Sales

Is anyone experiencing dead sales? I’ve never seen it this slow?  Any opinions?

Re: Sales

The first complaints about slow sales were posted in October 1995.

How do your sales for April/May 2023 compare to April/May 2022? April/May 2019? April/May 2018?

We have to skip 2020 and 2021 because the surge in online buying due to Covid quarantines makes those years outliers.

Re: Sales

I think the site may be down for maintenance. They are probably making more changes and streamlining things. It sure doesn't get any easier than having no sales.

Re: Sales

You’ve made some nice sales so far this month. By dead, do you mean over the last few days?

Re: Sales

It's slow for me, too. This is the first full week I have gone without any sales. May 5 was the last sale. I sell fashion dolls and fashion doll crochet patterns. I have been a long-time eBay customer, and last fall I opted to start selling my excess dolls and all my patterns. October 2022 to March 2023 were wonderful months for me. I got to Top Rated status quickly, and I got my packages picked up by the mail carrier with sometimes 4 to 5 packages at once. April was strong until about tax time and then picked up again after the tax deadline. I had a decent number of sales until May 5, and then it just stopped.

I noticed from the views on my dashboard that my dolls are still generating interest; that is, all but a very few show an upswing in number of views in the last 30 days, but why the views are not converting to sales is a head-scratcher. On the other hand, my Harley-Davidson doll has not generated very many views even though I have her on Promoted Listing. Could it be that the Harley-Davidson collectible Barbies are not popular anymore? I have listed her for the price I paid for her just to get her sold, but still no takers.

There have been a lot of theories on this topic, and all of them may be valid. Since this is my first year at selling, I wonder if Spring and Summer months are slow in general.

Re: Sales

@linda7913  The summer months can be slow depending on what you sell.  I used to shut down every summer because clothing sales slowed so much.  Also, you may have sold out your more fast-selling items and are left with more long tail items.  Just keep going - smaller sellers like ourselves tend to be more vulnerable to ups and downs, at least in my experience.  Try to stay active on the platform daily, even if just doing some relists, and try to list some new items, too.

ETA: People have been complaining about slow sales on here for as long as I can remember - it's a constant topic so you're not alone.

Re: Sales

If you are talking strictly about eBay my sales on eBay by both volume and dollars have been decreasing over the past several years. However, I diversified across multiple platforms and venues long ago and those venues are holding steady or increasing in some cases. Competition is a wonderful thing and buyers are exploring the rapidly expanding ecommerce market place looking for the best deal.
