I'm selling for my boss, and every listing is making the buyer pay sales tax. We are in NH and I have tried everything to figure out how to stop it.
I have my own eBay account and have never had a buyer have to pay sales tax buying from NH.
I'm hoping to get to talk to eBay on the phone, but this is irritating me.

You can;t stop it without violating the law., Sales tax is charged based on the state where the item is being shipped to, not where it is shipped from.
I have my own eBay account and have never had a buyer have to pay sales tax buying from NH.
If that is the case, then you must have only been shipping to buyers in states that have no sales tax.

eBay does not have the power to overturn state laws or supreme court decisions.

This thread is from January. For some unknown reason, someone else dredged it back up to ask the same question, which had already been thoroughly and accurately answered.

@windswept*acres wrote:I LIVE IN NH AND PAY PROPERTY TAXES THAT ARE MORE THAN TWICE AS HIGH AS IN NEIGHBORING STATE, MAINE. MAINE RESIDENTS LOVE TO COME TO NH TO BUY THEIR LIQUOR BECAUSE WE HAVE NO SALES TAX. SO WHY IS EBAY CHARGING MY BUYERS SALES TAX BASES ON THEIR LOCATION? NH DOESN'T COLLECT SALES TAX.
When people from Maine come to NH to buy things, they get charged NH sales tax, i.e. 0%. Your eBay buyers are doing an interstate transaction, with the destination of the package being outside NH, so they're charged the sales tax of the destination state.
Your property tax is irrelevant.

The reason IS known. It is because the post bumper did not read any of the replies.
And then even regulars here on the boards get caught in the bump, and reply to the old post. (I have been guilty of responding to an old thread bump)

Yes, I know the reason, I just don't get why people are too lazy to read the responses.
