Hi everyone, I’m so angry now and this is my situation!
This buyer bought a Tiffany & Co. 18k yellow gold letter C disc on 15th July. She made offer and I accepted but she didn’t pay immediately so I had to send a reminder. After that I got paid and shipped the item out. I even pay out of pocket to upgrade the shipping from 1st class to priority! My bad that I forgot to record the video before shipping 😠 After the necklace was delivered, she asked for return as “not as description” and you know for this reason, Ebay’s always on buyer’s side. I tried to contact the buyer and asked her why she said the item’s not as described?? NO ANSWER! Then I think ok it’s fine, I accepted the return and had to pay for return label as well..
The package was delivered yesterday but I just checked it out today. I was shocked because when I opened the package, there’s a old wallflower plugin instead of my necklace!?!! WTH??????? Fortunately, I recorded the video right the moment I started opening the mail box!
I refused to return and asked Ebay to step in. I got their email with declaration form and said they’ll investigate!!! But I also just got email from them said that the case was resolved and they’ll refund to buyer as the package was delivered??????
My question is even when I proved that the buyer is a scammer, Ebay doesn’t do anything about her??? And she still got the refund with my necklace???
I think this is not her first time doing this!!! She knows she will get the refund with the item no matter what! So scared!!! Be careful everyone!
I’ll attached her profile here with photos of my case!!!
Solved! Go to Best Answer

That’s eBay for you. As sellers we are screwed ebay only cares about the buyers. It is a rigged system to always protect buyers. Best part is the buyer will be allowed to do this again and again. Sorry this happened to you I went thru the same type of thing so I know how bad it is.

Funny ebay is never wrong for allowing these dishonest buyers to steal from honest sellers.

Wow, you have some really nice items for sale. Just an FYI... you have gone from inexpensive baby toys and clothes to extremely rare Tiffany items. An acquaintance of mine did a similar thing and eBay requested to see receipts. Turns out, years ago he had won a substantial lottery (a scratcher, I should be so lucky!), had gone on a huge buying binge, blew through most of the money, and was now trying to recoup a good bit of it. He actually did! And, fortunately he had every receipt...case closed. You might not be under their radar but good to be prepared.

That's LOL ridiculous. I've been a member for almost 20 years. And let me tell you that it is impossible to build " a solid, positive reputation with eBay" because there is always going to be a buyer filing cases against you and giving you negative feedback only because their dishonest & evil. During my 20 years 95% has been with a 100% rating. But that doesn't make eBay favor me more than someone who has only been a member for 1 year. And I do not feel safer selling the more expensive items. FYI about 6-7 months ago some buyer gave me negative feedback for no truthful reason. I did everything perfect, item was accurate & was received in just 3 days. Yet the buyer claimed the item was damaged & slow shipping, etc. But I called eBay and showed them the tracking number said that the item was received in just 3 days. So eBay removed the negative feedback, but only because I showed them proof, not because I had " a solid, positive reputation with eBay" . Your a fool to think otherwise.

I was stolen from by a dishonest buyer I provided every piece of documentation eBay requested I did everything right and I was a top rated seller with 6 years and 100% rating and still eBay sided with the buyer.

I agree with you. But this is hurting eBay also because sellers are not listing near as many items, much less the higher value items. I know I would have sold a 1000% more in 2021 if I knew I would make a profit. And not get drug over hot coals by a low life buyer.

This is actually a really great idea......in fact, it would be nice for all sorts of items, not just jewelry, watches, sneakers & handbags. Even if it cost more and slowed down the process to receive the items.

Reputation with eBay means notning. Feedback also means nothing once eBay took away the ability for a seller to file negative feedback on a buyer.

exactly....I no longer list items of higher value here because there is zero seller protections. Other venues are more secure for those kinds of sales.

I am also not listing high value items. I'd rather sell them via different channels or to contacts i have dealth with previously. Takes longer time, but it is worth it not having to deal with the stress selling on ebay.
Knowing ebay i am certain that they won't do anything to fix the wrongs they've done, rather i expect them to view the undoubtedly lower profits as a reason to increase fees and punish sellers even more because it would be unheard of that those perfect creatures in ebay management have made an error in their judgement, but it is clear at this point that they are incompetent and outright dangerous clowns that are tarnishing ecommerce as a whole.
Consensus is now that ebay is unsafe and expensive. It will be very hard for them to fix that. Even if they lowered the fees substantially they would still struggle IMO.

I think they need to start paying people to authenticate stuff or they eventually will be PAYING the facebook people to have to deal with all this more. Or PAYING WITH PEOPLE JUST GIVING UP SELLING EXPENSIVE STUFF.

Hello everyone, it’s me.. again ☺️
First, I would like to say thank you to all of your information and advices. They meant a lot to me. I’m so sorry I cannot reply to everyone because there’s alot 😅
Second, I’m so happy to inform that I WON THIS CASE!!!!! woohoo 🥳 I really don’t know if it’s called “Seller Protection”? After filling the declaration form and sent to Ebay, I just got the result tonight that I would receive the return of fund. I’m not sure if Ebay have to pay the fund out of their pocket or they’ll charge the scammer buyer but I really hope that it would be option 2. Cuz she’s definitely not deserved the refund and my necklace!!! 😠
In my declaration form I said “I can provide video recording from the time I opened the mailbox and unpacked the package! Also I believe my apartment complex has video recording the mailbox so I can prove that there’s no one touching my mailbox after the package was delivered until I opened and recorded it which as mentioned above!”
So I just wanna say, if you feel any suspect activity from the buyer, please record the video carefully right away when you start packing your products and when you receive the return package (if buyer asks for return). Because who knows if these videos can help you take back your money? Maybe I’m lucky this time but this would be a big lesson for me!
Again, I really appreciate all of your replies and hope my topic will be helpful!
Have a good night!!! 😴

So sorry this happened to you but unfortunately this is all to easy of a scam to run on eBay. You can even find online video's to tell you how to do it and 99.9% of the time eBay is going to side with the buyer and fully refund them. While you can file a police report, mail fraud report .......... the item you sold is a high value target that has little or no discernable markings (i.e serial number) that the police could use to confirm the item was in fact stolen.
It is also gold which can easily be sold for scrap value without any trace. It's a shame this happens as often as it does but it will continue to take place and probably increase in frequency since it is so easy for the buyers to pull off and there is very little risk of them getting caught. I will not list any high value items on eBay these days because of this. There are way to many other forums and methods for selling these types of items. If I was a scam buyer the Tiffany platinum ring would have a big bullseye on it as would several other items you have listed.
