Revising feedback

I'm kind of new at this.  Please excuse my ignorance.  I've sold items on Ebay years ago and never had a problem.   This time around, the second item I sell to someone gets a negative.  They bought the item on a friday evening, USPS had it by 10:30 the next morning.  Boom, a negative rating with no comment about why.  I emailed them, asking what was awry with no response.  Starting out with this way does not bode well for my experience with this platform.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Revising feedback

That is ridiculous that someone would do that with no explanation.  It should be a required field to write a explanation otherwise you will not be able to do something stupid like this

Re: Revising feedback

Reach out again to the buyer stating you would like to know why they left negative feedback. If there is still no reply from the buyer you can reply to the negative feedback stating the item was received in the stated time frame...and you reached out to the seller more than once requesting a reason for the negative with no response. This way at least if anyone is checking your negative feedback they can see you put forth the effort to make it right. Negatives are always unsettling, especially when you don't know why and you don't have the opportunity to turn the negative into a positive. Hang in there and good luck!

Re: Revising feedback

Also I would take a look at the feedback that the buyer has left for others.. Just click on your buyers feedback number and it will bring you to their feedback page and click the "left for others".  If you see that they routinely leave negative feedback it may help your case to get it removed. Also your item was brand new so it really does not make sense.   Good luck

Re: Revising feedback

If you shipped on time and there were no delays and no contact and they left negative before they recieved it, I would contact eBay and try to get it removed.

Either "feedback not related to transaction" or "feedback left by mistake".

Re: Revising feedback

I've requested that it be removed, haven't heard back from the buyer or eBay.   Hopefully, it will turn out OK in the end.   Ebay won't let me list anymore products right now because of this.  I'll just continue to do the right thing and it should be just fine.  Thanks for all the suggestions.

Re: Revising feedback

I would say to do exactly what you did.

Maybe you should contact ebay with their messaging thing and see if one of there representatives can help.

Re: Revising feedback

The negative is showing no comment, was that the way you received it or has it been modified by eBay?

If it was left this way, I would contact eBay on Facebook and ask for removal - AFAIK you can not leave neg FB with no accompanying reason which is why this tool of a buyer typed only ...

Re: Revising feedback

I have heard nothing from the buyer or eBay.  Ebay did decide to payout .  There was no information left with that negative, unless eBay removed it before I was able to read it.  Buyer has had ample time to modify their decision.   Takes all kinds I suspect.

Unfortunately, sellers are left with few options.  A weakness with the platform that hopefully doesn't rise to the top very often.  As we have all come to find out-life isn't always fair.

Reply to the feedback this way:

Contacted nice buyer who left this negative in error. They are happy with their purchase. Oh well...

Sounds like the OP hasn't been able to reach the buyer, so this comment could backfire if they decide to post a follow-up.

Ebay does not evaluate sellers on their feedback anymore. So your seller limits have nothing to do with the negative feedback. Virtually all new sellers have limits on how much can be listed and sold. Your funds from your transactions may also be held. Below is a link to the new seller limits policy.

Re: Revising feedback

Thanks for the information.

I couldn't list anymore product.  They held the funds until the buyers received their product, so maybe they stopped me for another reason.  There are so many bad actors on both sides of this fence they probably wanted to stop me from listing in case my intentions were sinister.
