Return Labels

I accidentally shipped the wrong item to a customer. I am shipping another one immediately since they still want the item. How do I send them a return label so they can ship the wrong item back to me?

Return Labels

Have the buyer open an item not described case.

You can then approve the return and send a label.

Print a label and put it in the package; when they receive, they can use it.

You are doing the right thing by sending the correct item immediately and not forcing the buyer to return the mistaken item.  There is some risk for you, but at least you are doing the right thing and not holding their item hostage unless they pick up after the mistake.

That is another way; but it does 'ding' a seller- get enough of those types of returns and seller will be paying a 6% additional fee for months...

If the buyer opens a return and the seller sends a label, the buyer will be refunded when the item is returned.  Since they are receiving the correct item, they do not need to be refunded.  It would be better to send that return label outside of the transaction.

I think that the seller can set up the 'exchange' option in their return preferences but I'm not sure how that works. Is a return label issued and then the seller has to provide tracking showing the item new item has been received by the buyer?

@pjcdn2005  I have no clue about an exchange option. I have never sent the wrong item and wouldnt an exchange be for same items? Seems it may mess up inventory if the seller sent something else...  LOL, too much "what ifs" for me.

@stainlessenginecovers Since the seller made a mistake, I understand about the extra fees and seller ding but it is cleaner to do it the way the system is set up.

Unless the seller is giving the buyer the 1st item and just sending the correct item.

But to each his own.

Return Labels

This just happened to me last week. I sent the wrong item realized it that night and shipped out the right one the next day. I could not figure out how to purchase a return label thru ebay. I went to the post office payed for the return envelope and shipped the prepaid envelope with the right coin.

I would do as @stainlessenginecovers suggests in message 3.  If you have the buyer open the return and send a label through that, the buyer will be refunded in full. eBay won't know that you are sending them the correct item.
