I recently decided to sell some stuff on eBay because I thought that would be the easiest process to get rid of things. On July 31, 2024, I received an MC011 restriction on my account, saying that I had to provide proof of delivery and add tracking to my sales (mind you I bought the shipping labels from eBay, and the tracking is already attached to the order).
On August 3, 2024, all my current sales showed delivered on my seller portal and I emailed eBay support back to appeal the restriction. This time I got an email back asking for more information (government ID, bank statements, and proof of purchase for my sold items) because the tracking information that they originally asked for was not enough. I read through carefully what they wanted me to send over and I did exactly that. I received this email an hour later:
"We are committed to reducing both fraud and negative buying experiences on eBay. To maintain a safe marketplace, we sometimes end active items, restrict selling activity, or suspend accounts until an additional review can be completed. We have completed an additional review of your account and show that your account was originally restricted because it was in violation of eBay policy and your behavior posed a risk to the eBay community.
Because of this, we have decided that your account will remain indefinitely restricted from selling. We have taken this action out of concern for the safety and integrity of the eBay Community. Due to eBay policy, we cannot provide you with more specific information.
We understand that this situation may be frustrating; however, although future emails from you will be read, we will be unable to respond to any further requests to reinstate your selling privileges.
Please keep in mind that members who are restricted are prohibited from registering new accounts with eBay, or selling on eBay using any existing accounts. Although, you are still eligible to purchase items with this account, please note that eBay reserves the right to suspend existing accounts as well as new accounts opened by anyone in the same household of a restricted user or by any other associates of a restricted user.
We appreciate your time.
Kind Regards,
Eric
eBay Trust and Safety"
I have been on eBay for 5 years and have bought and sold numerous things with no negative reviews. Yet, I provided proof for all the things that I sold and it still comes out as "your behavior posed a risk to the eBay community". I have contacted eBay multiple times (via Facebook, phone calls, live chat, and Twitter) and they all refused to provide me with any information about the restriction. I currently have a good amount of funds on my eBay that I would like to get paid out and they told me I had to wait 170 days for that. Does anyone have any advice on how I can get my selling privileges unrestricted? Would getting legal help be reasonable?

Did you try to sell something with the same photo exact same item twice?....and cancel the sale(s)?...and sell them to someone else...maybe off of eBay but using eBay shipping labels....Just a thought what might have happened and why you cannot sell now.

I did sell the same thing twice with the same picture yes. I did not do any of the others that you mentioned. Is that something that would trigger a risk to the community?

You had valid receipts for those five new in the box Apple iPads you sold at below retail?

You sold 5 Apple ipads?
That is just "some stuff" ...to "get rid of things"?
I am sure ebay is concerned for that reason. Your proof probably did not past the test.

Yes, I did. I sent it all to the support team along with my bank statement which shows the purchase too.
08-04-2024 06:10 PM
And how did you get 5 brand new unopened iPads?
08-04-2024 06:11 PM
Straight receipts from the merchandise website all with my shipping info, credit card used, and tracking that shows it was delivered to my place. Along with my banking statements that show the purchase. If that is not enough proof then idk what is.

Where did you buy all those ipads from?

From Sam's Club.
If you all are gonna ask the same questions instead of giving actual advice then don't reply. 😴

Sam's Club

I Didn't see you answer that question before I asked.
But it is probably the main reason you will remain gone.
Ebay most likely suspects you of selling either counterfeit or stolen merchandise.
Ebay does not mess around with Apple products.
And your story is very suspect.
I recommend you look for a new marketplace because you are pretty much done here.

That sucks man.
How can a story with evidence and proof be suspect? Swappa definitely would have been the better choice for Apple products.
Thanks anyways!

Does anyone know if eBay releases funds exactly after 170 days? Or is it sometimes sooner/later?

Sam's website only allows 2 per membership.
