Restricted From Selling Permanently

I recently decided to sell some stuff on eBay because I thought that would be the easiest process to get rid of things. On July 31, 2024, I received an MC011 restriction on my account, saying that I had to provide proof of delivery and add tracking to my sales (mind you I bought the shipping labels from eBay, and the tracking is already attached to the order).

On August 3, 2024, all my current sales showed delivered on my seller portal and I emailed eBay support back to appeal the restriction. This time I got an email back asking for more information (government ID, bank statements, and proof of purchase for my sold items) because the tracking information that they originally asked for was not enough. I read through carefully what they wanted me to send over and I did exactly that. I received this email an hour later:

"We are committed to reducing both fraud and negative buying experiences on eBay. To maintain a safe marketplace, we sometimes end active items, restrict selling activity, or suspend accounts until an additional review can be completed. We have completed an additional review of your account and show that your account was originally restricted because it was in violation of eBay policy and your behavior posed a risk to the eBay community.

Because of this, we have decided that your account will remain indefinitely restricted from selling. We have taken this action out of concern for the safety and integrity of the eBay Community. Due to eBay policy, we cannot provide you with more specific information.

We understand that this situation may be frustrating; however, although future emails from you will be read, we will be unable to respond to any further requests to reinstate your selling privileges.

Please keep in mind that members who are restricted are prohibited from registering new accounts with eBay, or selling on eBay using any existing accounts. Although, you are still eligible to purchase items with this account, please note that eBay reserves the right to suspend existing accounts as well as new accounts opened by anyone in the same household of a restricted user or by any other associates of a restricted user.

We appreciate your time.

Kind Regards,

Eric

eBay Trust and Safety"

I have been on eBay for 5 years and have bought and sold numerous things with no negative reviews. Yet, I provided proof for all the things that I sold and it still comes out as "your behavior posed a risk to the eBay community". I have contacted eBay multiple times (via Facebook, phone calls, live chat, and Twitter) and they all refused to provide me with any information about the restriction. I currently have a good amount of funds on my eBay that I would like to get paid out and they told me I had to wait 170 days for that. Does anyone have any advice on how I can get my selling privileges unrestricted? Would getting legal help be reasonable?

Restricted From Selling Permanently

I'm confused - and I'm sure they have a similar confusion at eBay.

When you say you just wanted to get rid of some things. And then say you bought them at Sams Club.

When someone says they want to get rid of things, its usually implying that its something sitting around the house that they don't need any longer.

When someone says they bought 5 ipads (or anything of the such) at Sam's club well that sounds like buying for resale. And if someone is selling below retail, then all those things can seem fishy to eBay.

Now maybe you didn't explain it to eBay the way you did here. But if you did, I can see the red flags coming up real quick. eBay is being watched by the authorities very closely along with many other internet selling sites do to the internet being such a attractive way to move stolen merchandise. Since you have proof of purchase it's not the case here. But in the in the end something made them afraid to allow you to sell here and with the verbiage they used in the letter, it sounds as if you may just want to move on to another venue as they are pretty much dead set in their ways. And don't feel like the Lone Ranger as this has happen to many and could happen to any one of us at any time. It's eBays company and they set the rules. When you signed their agreements, it clearly says they have the right to do this. Sorry it had to happen to you and wish there was a way to fix it but it sounds like the door was closed.

Offering Brand New Apple Products could get you all of those requests. And you could be restricted even if you provide all they ask for?

Trust, safety and intellectual property issues are enforced today far more stringently than ever before on Ebay and your past history is inadequate to expect any special treatment. Almost every seller's past history is inadequate.
