Hi all, I posted a previous question about restocking fee and you told me I couldn't do it.
However, I have a return that went out February 14 and today 3/26 she wants to return it. I approved the return, but am wondering if I can charge a restocking fee. And should I let her know I am returning only (80% ) a portion of her refund?

If it scanned as delivered before 2/24, you aren't required by ebay to accept that return. You're only required to within 30 days of delivery.

Why would you need to charge a restocking fee when you could easily relist the item and sell it again.
If the return is for not as described you would be refunding in full, that includes the original shipping the buyer paid if any.
Since you offer 30 day returns where buyer pays return shipping on remorse returns. The only time you could take a percentage of the refund is if the item was returned to you damaged. But the buyer can appeal that and get the rest of their money. The same would happen if you tried to take a restocking fee.

-----------------------------------------------
Just how do you plan to do that, and how do you plan to get away with doing it?
You state that before you asked about a restocking fee, and were told that you could not do it, but now you are asking if you can charge a restocking fee (do a reduced refund)? What do you think has changed since you asked?
Is eBay going to give you that option on the return?
If it is a "remorse" return eBay will likely present you with the option to not refund the original shipping paid by the buyer, but beyond that I do not think that there will be any other reduction shown.
ETA:...................As a non-TRS you will not be presented with the "up to 50%" reduction.

You still cannot charge a restocking fee.
IF you accept the return, you accept the return.
You cannot on eBay penalize a buyer with a restocking fee.

No, they did away with a restocking fee years ago.
What is the reason for the return?

It's past the 30 day guarantee and you sell clothes. I would not accept it.

She doesn't need it. The return window closed March 14.

I DID THE RETURN AS A COURTESY! Okay, I have my answer. I'll list a higher price on it to cover the return.

In your original post in this thread you say " I have a return that went out February 14 and today 3/26 she wants to return it" and now you say the return closed March 14th"
Why create this thread when the case closed a week ago? Subject seems moot to me.

The 30 day clock starts on the date of delivery not the date of sale
Into your life it will creep

The 30 days starts from the delivery date, not when it went out.

Are you sure? MBG return window is 30 days from package delivery scan. 30 days from 2/14 is actually 3/16. My reply is a moot point though.
