Hi everyone- little strange- I just got an email stating "Regarding your request that eBay call you", but I did not request a phone call. Ever have this happen to you? Hackers have tried to access my account 3 times in the last 2 weeks- numerous text mesages and emails coming through with a one time passcode to change my account info; the attempted hacking was unsuccessful, but still a little unsettling. Do you think this "requested phone call" could be the result of a hacker?
Thanks

Your is the second report I've seen today about unsolicited callbacks, but the other didn't mention attempted hacks on your account. I would definately call CS and request a supervisor to discuss the issue. It appears that your account is being targeted by someone, it's in your best interest to protect yourself.

It's certainly possible. Is there some reason why they would be interested enough in your account to make multiple attempts to access it?
If it shares a password with any other account, now would be a great time to change it to a unique password that you don't use anywhere else. (Changing all your passwords to something new and unique to that account only would probably be a good idea anyway.)

there is no shared password with another account. I sell technology, and do a pretty high volume of sales, so I think the foreign hackers see my account as easy money.
Incidentally, what did the eBay message actually say "regarding" your request for a call? Were they telling you that they couldn't reach you at the number "you" gave, or what? I have some vague recollection of hearing that when eBay does call you, their Caller ID doesn't actually read "eBay" but is instead some generic thing like "UTAH CALL" or similar. Googling the phone number showing in the Caller ID will identify it as eBay. Have you ignored any incoming calls with an ID resembling that recently?

"Thank you for contacting eBay. We attempted to call you as requested. However, while doing so, we noticed that the number provided was incorrect or out-of-date."

Okay... What number is currently showing for you in your seller account details? Is it still correct?

It is correct.

It's just a phishing email, I get plenty of them, they are easy to spot, I forward to spoof@ebay.com, delete and forget about them.
I did one get one recently that was using the text and graphics of a message that eBay used to send out more than 10 years ago, it referred to eBay program that haven't been in use since the mid-2000's.
Hard to believe people fall for these but some obviously do.
If the message didn't include your full name it absolutely didn't come from eBay, if it did include your full name it still might not have come from eBay.
If you use a password manager and you do click a link that takes you to a login page your password manager will not fill in the info, another way to tell a fake from a real message.

I got one of those today. I requested a call from CS last week through the website but they attempted to call while I was on the other line so I let it go to voicemail.

I would say that, with all of the other previous attempts, yes this is probably part of the same campaign 😞
They failed to get access online with the one-time passcodes, etc. So they tried requesting a call back using their phone #.
Have you talked to eBay about this at all?
This sounds almost personal, with the multiple attempts 😞
I would call them and see if they would give you any information about the email addresses and phone numbers that are trying to get your account info. And see if they will make a note that nobody besides you at your email and phone number (and security prompts) should have any access, period. No matter what story they might have.
