Request Delayed Shipping

Hello Friends,

A customer bought an item last Friday, she asked for me to send the item on 6/4.  Will I get dinged for a late shipment?

It works, and removes requesting the buyer to do anything.

I just inform them that I have to prepare it for shipment so eBay will mark it as 'Shipped' with the tracking number. However, I will make sure that I hand it over to the USPS on the date they requested.

You don't get a late shipment ding because you validated handling.

I will next time, my first impulse when asked was sure since I want to provide above and beyond customer service, but I heard of this topic in the eBay Business podcast and decided to ask the community; thanks.

I can create a ton of 'what if' scenarios.

The answer is quite obvious.

I live in a small town, we do not have a Kiosk. If I ask the clerk to scan the box so that I can take it home, I will waste 30-45 minutes of my life explaining the situation while good folks are waiting in line. 🙂

No clerk in his right mind is going to agree to that anyway. The only reason that this cheat works with the kiosk is because the kiosk cannot sprout legs and chase after you to give up the package that you supposedly just scanned in. (You would definitely be caught on video at the kiosk but I am sure no one would care.)

I guess my point was that, for example, no post office in my area has a kiosk. The OP's post office might not, either. You had a interesting suggestion, but it may not work in every case.
