Relisting Old Listings towards Free Limit

So I am paying for $20 per month to have 1k free listing slots and I just found out that relisting (a huge chunk of my 1.5k) items count towards to that 1k free listings, (ebay never explained this and it caused me to have a negative balance). I list about 300 per month (last month i was remaking listings so it was higher)

1. What’s the point to buy a monthly package of old listings eats up the free listings limit?

2. What’s the point of eBay relisting listings when it doesn’t lead to more sales for me?

3. How to switch off automatic relisting? If not able to, this reads as a way for Ebay to make more money by forcing people to buy a higher package.

Re: Relisting Old Listings towards Free Limit

You can't switch off automatic relisting of GTC listings.

You don't have to buy a higher store subscription, just stay under your store limits.

Have a great day.

Re: Relisting Old Listings towards Free Limit

You can't switch off the automatic relisting. But what you can do is cancel listings manually just before they are set to relist. Then you can keep them in your unsold listing for 3 months before they disappear. You can relist them any time you want before that 3 months is over.

Another way to keep it line is to sell more also, as that works real well.

The very first section on the eBay Fees page is Insertion fees and how they work.

Re: Relisting Old Listings towards Free Limit

The way you can keep track of how many of your listings you have used and how many you have left is by viewing this page of your seller hub. Click OVERVIEW to find this page. The order on this page is customizable, so your page might be in a different order. I moved this block to the top left corner, so that I can easily keep track of how many listings I have left, so I don't go over.

What’s the point of eBay relisting listings when it doesn’t lead to more sales for me?

If it isn't listed, it can't sell.........not everything will sell in 30 days........I have stuff listed for several years.....and then it sells

A point on not selling.......you have some nice stuff... but you aren't putting the size in the title on most things......Strongly suggest you do that......  While there are size filters, not everyone uses them....and it's aggravating clicking on an item only to find out it's not the right size, so some will just pass the item...without looking more closely at it.....which might have led to a sale.

You can delete any items at any time and/or stop listing ......it's a seller's choice as to how many listings they have.

Re: Relisting Old Listings towards Free Limit

ebay never explained this and it caused me to have a negative balance

You may not have read it, but eBay does explain how Zero Insertion Fee Listings work.

"The following count toward your monthly allocation of zero insertion fee listings:

  • Manual and automatically relisted items
  • The original listing and each monthly renewal for Good 'Til Canceled listings"

What’s the point to buy a monthly package of old listings eats up the free listings limit?

They are not "old listings". They are active listings

What’s the point of eBay relisting listings when it doesn’t lead to more sales for me?

eBay renews items each month because that is how eBay works. It is not eBay's job to keep track of whether your listings make money or not, or to decide whether or not renew them.  That is your job.

How to switch off automatic relisting?

You cannot. It is your job to end the listings prior to their renewal if you no longer want to sell them. You can do this quickly and easily and in bulk on the Active Listings page in the seller hub.

If not able to, this reads as a way for Ebay to make more money by forcing people to buy a higher package.

It reads as a way for me to have my inventory available at all times with little work, as long as I am aware of how many monthly listings I have.

@lefabboutique

You really shouldn't be using stock photo images for pre owned clothing.  Not a great idea and setting your self up for SNAD return and since you don't take returns, chances are you will lose the item and the money.  No returns does not mean no refunds on eBay.  Consider changing your policy & protecting yourself as a seller.

Happy Holidays

Re: Relisting Old Listings towards Free Limit

Reconsider selling used clothing on Ebay. Many sellers of used clothing are complaining that what they are offering does not sell.

Consider a markdown. Many buyers are buying cheap new clothing from Temu and Shain, and are impacting other low priced choices. You have at least one Zara item listed, Shain is eating Zara's lunch, if they can't compete new, you probably can't compete.

kabilab disagrees--participation on this platform is voluntary. Sellers are not forced to subscribe to any optional services.

I'm guessing that you have a basic store as do I.  A couple years ago I was thrilled when eBay added the additional 250/10,000  free listings in select categories.  (I mostly listed in collectibles and that was listed as a select category for both Auctions & Fixed Price listings and I can't possibly use 10000 free listings!)

I see you mostly list in Clothing.  And as you can see below, the clothing category is not a "selected" category for fixed price listings, but it is for Auctions.  So, you could take advantage of the 250 free selected auctions each month, but not fixed price.  And, if you plan to branch out to other items it may make sense to keep the selected categories in mind for fixed price listings.

Zero insertion fee listings allocation per month- See: Notes for Zero insertion fee listing allocations/insertion fee per listing after allocation

BASIC STORE:

AUCTION-STYLE LISTINGS

250 in select categories/$0.25

FIXED PRICE LISTINGS:

1,000 all categories/$0.25
10,000 select categories/$0.25

Select categories for auction-style listings:

If you have a Basic, Premium, Anchor, or Enterprise Store, you can only use your zero insertion fee auction-style listings allocation in the following categories:

  • Antiques
  • Art
  • Clothing, Shoes & Accessories
  • Coins & Paper Money
  • Collectibles
  • Dolls & Bears
  • Entertainment Memorabilia
  • Health & Beauty
  • Jewelry & Watches
  • Pottery & Glass
  • Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop
  • Stamps
  • Toys & Hobbies

Select categories for fixed price listings:

You can use your 'select categories' fixed price listings allocation in the following categories:

  • Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop > Sports Trading Cards
  • Toys & Hobbies > Collectible Card Games
  • Collectibles
  • Music
  • Books & Magazines
  • Movies & TV
  • Video Games & Consoles > Video Games
  • Stamps
  • Crafts
  • Home & Garden > Greeting Cards & Party Supply > Party Supplies

Re: Relisting Old Listings towards Free Limit

well doesn't that mean I cannot post anymore new listings due to the fact I have more listings currently than the free limit I have?

Re: Relisting Old Listings towards Free Limit

obviously I want the items to sell, I don't want to be charged 25 cents for each item that may never sell plus on top the clearly unnecessary subscription I am paying for...

Re: Relisting Old Listings towards Free Limit

Well technically you could list 500,000 items.

But you would only get the first 1,000 free.

You would pay for the other 499,000 listings.

As you continue listing and selling, you may find you have promotional Free Listings.

At the moment on dotCOM I have the 1000 listings from my Basic Store subcription and another 1000 Free Listings from a promotion.

Now.

Don't do this until you have a strong grasp of shipping, but I double my available listings by listing both on my home site (Canada) and here on dotCOM.

There is no extra charge for this. Just the dotCA Basic Store subscription.

This does not apply to promotions.

While I have 1000 free promotional listings on dotCOM, I have 10,000 free promotional listings on dotCA.

So with all that, I can list up to 13,000 items for my $25 Cdn monthly subscription fee.

BUT.

Until you understand shipping thoroughly, don't even try this.

Shipping is hard.
