I had a buyer ask for a refund due to a 1/4 off on a measurement and I had to pay for the shipping utterly ridiculous. She has a shop on eBay I am just a person trying to get rid of inherited items. I believe she just decided she did not like it . This seems over the top

that eBay allows this. I have a perfect score

I agree.  Ebay should not allow sellers to give the wrong measurements.

You incorrectly described your item.  The buyer has a valid INAD claim.

That's like saying that the customer ordered a 1/2 inch wrench, but received a 1/4 inch wrench.  It's only 1/4 difference right?

It doesn't matter what you "believe", you didn't list it correctly.

Pay for the return and refund or refund without return.  Either way, you're refunding.

Inherited items that are sold for less than cost basis at time of death along with any selling fees can be written off as a loss.

I did pay for it it was a vintage bangle bracelet very difficult to get an exact measurement and have sold many with no issue . The buyer made me hold another bangle for 6 days to see if they won I accommodated her in every way. I packed everything extremely carefully as always and one cracked in shipping that I get is my responsibility.

Yes it is ridiculous as a 1/4" off is not significant for a bracelet, a ring yes, but not a bracelet.  But that is retail on Ebay, and elsewhere, where buyers will return items for ridiculous and often false reasons.  No use in getting upset or fighting it.  Depending on value and shipping costs you will have to determine whether it is worth paying shipping twice.  Make it a purely business decision.

A 1/4 inch might not seem like much, but it's a lot on some items.

Have a great day.

A lot of disgruntled folks post here blaming the seller when there's an issue with an item that the disgruntled folks have never sold or otherwise handled to know really what they're even talking about. I would ignore them.

1/4" is not a big deal on something like this.  But, that's how eBay works, the customer is always right, no matter how wrong they actually are.

I would find a flea market or similar place to sell these things and not run the hassle of having to take returns from people who can't understand they're basically buying from flea market sellers and not eBay itself.

@fashionbug1

Dear buyer,

I am sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the item that you have purchased from me.  I try my best to list things as accurately as I can but sometimes mistakes do happen.

Please return the item at my expense for a full refund.

Thank you and I am sorry that this transaction did not work out for either one of us.

Seller

Or...you can refund them without the return of your item.

Or you can contest the case and argue...

and if the buyer opened an item not as described case against you, on the 4th day the buyer can escalate the case and eBay will make a final decision and refund the buyer (with your money) and not require the buyer to return your bracelet either...the buyer gets BOTH - their money and YOUR bracelet.  Do NOT let this happen to you which leads me back to the beginning:

Since you are unhappy with this buyer, may I suggest that you put them on your Blocked Buyers List so that they cannot purchase anything from you in the future.

I wear a 6 3/4 inch bracelet. That size fits me loose and comfortable on my wrist as it should.  A 7 inch slides halfway down my hand, across my knuckles. YES, 1/4 makes a HUGE difference for some people.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.
