I sold some comics and sent it Media Mail. After 5 business days the buyer demanded a refund and eBay went along with it!Im a longtime seller, 100% in last 12 months and the package was listed IN TRANSIT by the tracking number supplied by the U.S.Post Office. This was last week, during Christmas rush (not to mention the Covid-19 situation) and he got the package the next day and closed the case.My question, why did eBay even consider going along with this total unreasonable request?

So if I am reading right you shipped and 8 days later the buyer opened a case. I assume that was the estimated delivery date ? The next day the buyer got the package and the case was closed. No refund issued, correct ? If so what was the problem again ?

@pineapple1951 Thanks for posting this but nothing indicates a refund was given. This is just from the INR case and the buyer seems to have closed the case because the package arrived. Do you have something else that says eBay gave a refund to the buyer?

Not exactly, not right now anyway.
"We will automatically remove any defects, and associated negative or neutral feedback for “item not received” cases closed without seller resolution when:
I know, I know - I didn't believe it either, it was only through sheer stubbornness on my part that I discovered eBay is actually doing this. At first, every single time I issued a refund to avoid the defect, the item jumped back into action and was delivered within 48 hours and, of course, none of the buyers responded to my messages asking for my money back and I couldn't appeal.
So, I just refused to do anything and decided I'd just be extremely persistent in my appeals. Everything on my dashboard was red, from defects to warnings about my status dropping to below standard. As it turns out, Wednesday night is the "Magic Night" - at around 2 am CST, all my defects and late deliveries just disappeared and everything was green again. It was beautiful.

When you ship comic books via media mail, you are really stealing from all of us.

Sorry, I just got here.
I was, and still am, certainly going to mention the fact that
COMIC BOOKS are NOT eligible for Media Mail. They never have been.

"Media Mail packages may not contain advertising. Comic books do not meet this standard."

That’s if they carry advertising.Otherwise is okay.99% of the buyers want their comics shipped free. When your selling 6 comics for $3.00, well you get the idea.

“The problem” was the fact that eBay didn’t tell the buyer that his request for refund was premature and asked me to refund the buyer. That’s the problem.

I recently had the same situation, but luckily the eBay community suggested doing a postal intercept, which I did immediately. And although I was forced to refund at least my interception was successful. Ebay always seems to side with the buyer no matter the circumstancesl
