Hi,
I don’t seem to be able to find a way of contacting ebay directly about this so trying here.
I moved into a house earlier in the year and every couple of weeks i receive an item being returned to an ebay seller, maybe a previous occupant of the property.
I have been returning them to sender but it keeps happening, about 10 times now.
I opened the last one and found the seller via the item number on the paperwork. I’ve messaged them twice but no response!
Is there any way I can report this to ebay?
Many thanks🙂

You should be commended for trying to do the right thing. If this happened in the US many Americans would think the items were free gifts. You've tried and it's documented. Do you ever shop at OxFam? It's my dream, sounds so wonderful...
I do want to clear this up, not so much for you but all readers, I don't open packages with the intent of keeping the contents if it appears they are not for me. Often I open a package simply because I do most of my shopping online, I do check labels but not always, also I feel if the package is delivered wrong then the best chance for those contents to find their rightful owner is for me to look into it... Because if I return it to the Post office those chances are slim.
Most often it's for a neighbor, usually I can hand deliver those without opening the parcel.
But, sometimes I realize the mistake too late and the package is open, I look inside and am puzzled...
It happens, rest assured most erroneous deliveries that come to my house usually find their rightful owner because I would want my neighbors to do the same for me, matter of fact we've had conversations among ourselves about this very matter.
That being said, this is what I believe the OP is trying to do.

Amazing you would pounce with this comment when the poster is actually trying to be helpful and has been returning the packages to the post office. I occasionally still get mail for someone who lived in my house 25 years ago.

I appreciate that you are trying to locate the seller of your packages. The seller is losing money because when the returns show delivered they have to refund the buyer.

Sorry, but opening mail with someone else's name on it is.................... at best, sketchy.
You don't want to see the naked photos of my wife that got the incorrect address by mistake😎

Thank you, and thanks to everyone else who has advised on this one👍
I’ve got a couple of ideas now, i’ll report back when i get to the bottom of it🙂

I get a half dozen or more packages delivered to me every day. There has been the rare occasion where the carrier delivered the wrong package and I opened it before realizing it wasn't addressed to me. I simply resealed it and walked it to the right address if it was a few houses down or handed it back to the carrier. So should I be thrown in jail?
As far as your wife's naked photos go, if the package was delivered to the OP's house because it was addressed that way, s/he has every right to open them.
And react to them accordingly.

::general reply::
Gonna throw my two cents in here 🙂
We've lived in the same place for 22 years come February. If I get something with MY ADDRESS, but someone else's name, I'm going to do one of two things:
For letter mail, if it's not junk mail I write "Return to sender, not at this address" and stick it back in the mailbox for our mail lady to pick up. Junk mail I throw away. This actually hasn't happened in a very, very long time, probably a decade or more.
If it's a package, I'm going to open it so I can find out what's going on. (this has never happened, btw) After 22 years of living here, I consider this address mine. There is absolutely no reason mail with someone else's name should be coming to my address. If my address is being used in some sort of return fraud, I want to know.

Are you sure they are returns? Maybe someone is using a known address in a certain zip code to get a delivered scan and keeping the money??

Could they have passed away?

It is usually the least honest person that sees the " crime " that someone else committed.

This is a easy one.
A) Keep the items.
B) Write "return to sender" and give it back to your mail carrier.

Oh brother.
I'm sure the federal prisons are packed with these criminals.
Inmate A: "What are you in for?"
Inmate B: "Bank robbery. What are you in for?"
Inmate A: "Opening someone's mail."

@hedgehog5656
Is the seller one you have bought from before.
The first time I heard about this happening, it turned out to be a Chinese seller.
Instead of having the items returned to them, they would use an address from another buyer and had all their returns shipped to the buyers address.
It was cheaper for them, then having all their junk returned to China.

Years ago, we acquired the phone number of a deadbeat. (business numbers were recycled every three months.
The best satisfaction I had....got a phone call from an eBay buyer looking for his item. Explained what was going on, asked what the seller's ID was. I then reported the seller as having invalid information. Seller got suspended.
If you know the seller ID you may be able to do the same thing.

@hedgehog5656 wrote:It’s a pandora bracelet, but i have no idea if it’s genuine.
The seller is listed as a UK seller, and has an eastern european name, so I don’t think it’s anything to do with China.
I'm glad you've posted about this.
I'm in the UK, and I've been getting Pandora charms returned to my address, and it's nothing to do with a previous occupant, because I've lived at my address for 30 years.
I've opened a couple of packages and there isn't any names on the paper work, I can't find out who is sending them, or who is supposed to receive them. All the packages have the ebay logo.. I've asked my neighbours, but the packages have nothing to do with them. The name on the front of the packages are different, but they are all Eastern European names.
When I get one delivered I'm just handing it back to Royal Mail.
It started a few months ago..Weird, I don't know what's going on.
