Really, eBay?

eBay.jpg

And this is whyI can't take this site seriously. 25+ years with eBay. 100% positive feedback. 0 defects. 0 late shipping. 0100% uploaded on time and validated. 0 cases. And eBay tells me my "seller performance status is at risk" and in 2 days it'll be downgraded from Top Rated to Above Standard.

Re: Really, eBay?

The quality metrics look great. However, you need a cerain quantity of transctions over one year to qualify as as a top rated seller. Click the arrow to the right of  Seller Level for more details.

Re: Really, eBay?

Being a Top Rated Seller is earned not just given because you've been a good seller for a long time.  It is a program that has milestones that must be reached.  Once you have the TRS ranking, doesn't mean you can't lose it if you stop meeting the requirements for the program.

Here are the requirements.  Do you see any area that you may be falling behind on?  If you do, remember you can get it back.  Just work on whichever area you need to.  You are a good seller, it will come back.

Qualify as a Top Rated Seller

To become a Top Rated Seller, you must meet the following guidelines:

  • An eBay account that’s been active for at least 90 days.
  • 100 or more transactions and $1,000 in sales during the last 12 months with US buyers.
  • A defect rate less than or equal to 0.5%, with three or fewer defects from unique buyers.
  • Cases closed without seller resolution less than or equal to 0.3%, and two or fewer cases.
  • A late shipment rate less than or equal to 3%, and five or fewer late shipments.
  • Tracking uploaded within your stated handling time, and carrier validation for 95% of transactions to US buyers.

Re: Really, eBay?

Nope ebay looks at quantity and value. We can sell 5 items for 50,000 bucks and you can sell 100 items for a total of 1000 bucks and even though we made a lot more money for ebay we would be above standard and you would be top rated.

Re: Really, eBay?

I flip back and forth between TRS and Above Standard quite frequently based solely based on, as others mentioned, not maintaining over 100 transactions over a 12 month period. It is one of the stupidest metrics has since it does not factor in any value which is how eBay earns its fee revenue.

A seller could maintain TRS selling 200 items at $20 average for a total of $4,000 in sales while another seller could loose TRS because they only old 50 items at an average cost of 1,000. for a total of $50,000.00. I would assume eBay would rather have the fees from the $50K in sales but I may be wrong. Makes no sense to me.

I hope you sell in multiple places so you don't need to depend on ebay for sales alone.

Re: Really, eBay?

I got an email from ebay a few times muttering darkly about downgrading me to Top Rated due to some defect or another but they never seem to follow through. I don't remember what are the perks of being Top Rated, it doesn't particularly  matter to me.

One defect can not under any circumstance, on it's own, cause any seller to lose TRS.

The OP is just upset because they don't or didn't understand the requirements of being TRS.  I did provide info that explained this to the seller, I hope they had the opportunity to review it.  It would certainly explain things for them so they don't have to be upset anymore.  And they will know what they need to do to get the status back.

I've never understood it, either. It's like the 'look back' for some metrics - if you sell 400 or more items in three months you get a three-month look-back; sell 399 items you get lumped into a 12-month look-back (that happened to me twice when I was full time). I don't know if they changed that, but it's a ridiculous tranche.

At any rate, top rated is nice to get it because it reflects good work and a few perks come along with it, but one can lose it over something as simple as missing a dollar level OR a item number level, and be an outstanding seller.

Re: Really, eBay?

Maybe more than one defect then? I don't know. I am way too cavalier about this stuff. I should probably pay more attention now that I am putting almost all of my eggs in the ebay basket.

Re: Really, eBay?

You aren't losing anything.  If you had TRS+ listings, sure, but you aren't, so the loss of top rated means little to nothing.
