Re - variation listing being ended thread - more questions

As that thread has been locked I'd like some clarification.

So it appears the OP's MV listing was ended because "that category no longer supports MV"?

Which category was that?

And WHY are we, in the wake of mandatory GTC, rather than being offered an expansion of cats in which we can have variation listings having these options reduced?

brian@ebay

And when (if ever) are we going to have an updated list of which categories/subcats DO support variations?

Reality is the leading cause of stress.

Re: Re - variation listing being ended thread - more questions

I did not share the category for privacy reasons and I hope brian@ebay can respect that.

I asked the mod to lock the thread as soon as I got an answer because I didn't want to spread false rumors about a new policy that turned out to not be a new policy and thought it was better to let the thread sink.

I fully agree that variation categories should be expanding in number, not decreasing.

@myjunqueyourtreasure

Thank You!

I asked about which category no longer supports variations in the thread you are referring to, but no answer from the OP.

I would also like to know why there was no advance notice, from eBay, to the seller.  In fact, I feel an announcement should have been made to the community as a whole.

Okay, fair enough that you don't wish to be specific but other sellers who use MV listings would sure like to see it in black & white which cats have them and especially which have had that option removed (and ask why).

Hi @myjunqueyourtreasure, I'm not able to share account specific information, such as why a listing was removed, about other members accounts. While I do know that progress is being made on updating the list of categories that support variations, I'm not sure when this will be compete. I do know that it is actively being worked on though!

I'm one of those sellers who wants a list of which categories support variations so I'm glad you're asking eBay about it again!

Re: Re - variation listing being ended thread - more questions

This whole thing is confusing me. I know I bought some vintage craft kits and wanted to do a variation listing and it wasn't available. I don't know how hard it could be to give us a list of categories - subcategories that have the option or that don't have the option.

Maybe everyone there is working as fast as they can to get everything ready for Ebay Open ??? No time for anything else because it does seem like stuff is getting put on the back burner.

They have Ebay Open - they have the Crash Sale - the excuses are starting to sound like the ones I gave sellers who came here wondering why they didn't have any sales - summer slow down, tax season, back to school, vacation time yada yada.

@tunicaslot

What category were you trying to create the listing in?  I sell craft stuff and I do variation listings all the time.  I'm happy to help you if I can.

Ebay didn't use that as an excuse, another poster suggested that might be the reason.
