I have been a seller for nine months. I recently tried the reserve price route. Unfortunately, in my haste, I did not notice the associated fees until the charges came to my bank account. Two questions: Wouldn't it be helpful if ebay posted a small question for new sellers that put in a reserve price asking if they want to continue, and then highlight the appropriate fee right then and there? Second: when I asked for a credit, I was declined, even though I had not previously ever asked for one. Must you have TWELVE full months without asking for a credit, in order to be approved? Thank you in advance.

When I look at the Sell your Item form.......it shows me this:
note the "fees apply"..........
the little i is clickable and says:
This is the lowest price you're willing to sell an item for. A non-refundable listing fee, charged when the listing goes live, applies whether or not the item sells.
At that point......I would think/hope most sellers would investigate the fees.......
As to credits......there's no hard and fast rule about anyone getting any credit at any time, that I know of......

It sure does. I believe it's a $5 fee to set a reserve l. Anytime I've posted auctions, it had notified me of what fees are occurred prior to posting at the very bottom, in blue, above the post button. I'm not sure if perhaps OP may have been in a hurry and overlooked this or not.

Yeah but shouldn't they put it in red font? 😉

When I list on eBay, eBay gives me a summary of the fees right next to the button to create the listing.
Do they not do that for you?

It most likely did, but I missed it.

I have learned to click on the little icon. Thank you.

Reserves are a great way for ebay to siphon more money out of you. You don't need em. Just set your auctions at the lowest price you're willing to sell it for. Or just do buy it now at the highest price, and allow offers, and set the minimum.
