Okay this is getting ridiculous. Am I the only one with this issue?
It's only for random items, but some stuff I've sold recently absolutely will not let me manually add tracking numbers (I ship through Shipstation), which is very important to me as a Top Rated Seller. When I add a tracking number, it 'looks' like it went through and accepted, but when it returns me to the Ebay homepage and re-check the transaction details, there is no tracking info. The item is just marked as shipped.
The craziest part is that this only happens with random items. But has never happened before, at least not until the last month or so. No rhyme or reason.
No matter what I do I cannot get the tracking info to save. I've tried different browsers, disabling adblock software...you name it. I only recently found out after the fact since I checked my TRS status for this upcoming evaluation period and it shows I only had 75% of tracking uploaded! But come to find out many of my items didn't have the tracking number saved after I entered them. And all but one of those items have already been long delivered to the customers already according to tracking!
This is seriously ridiculous, and I have no way to fix it. Anyone else?

Welp, it appears you don't accept personal messages, so here goes!
Thanks for taking the time out. I would have never known that Ebay didn't 'accept' the tracking numbers I uploaded had I not checked my metrics for the upcoming evaluation period. I was shocked to see I had 4 items that had no tracking uploaded, despite the fact I am super **bleep** about uploading all my tracking numbers within 24 hours as my Top Rated Seller designation indicates.
Apparently they were all marked as shipped when I input the tracking numbers initially weeks ago, but Ebay simply would not 'save' them in their system as usual. I purchase all my labels thru Shipstation and have done the exact same method for well over a year now without issue.
The following 4 orders are the ones in question:

My normal steps are as follows:
1) click on the transaction
2) on the transaction page, click on 'add tracking number'
3) input the tracking number and carrier in the 2 fields
For some reason, all 4 of those items 'appear' to accept and save the numbers when I press submit on step 3, as it returns back to the My Ebay page afterwards with no warning messages or errors whatsoever. However, it's not the case as the 'add tracking number' link still shows on all of them...with no existing tracking numbers stored. I have no idea why it's just those 4 items, since all of my other ones have gone perfectly fine.
Even til this very day, I still cannot add the proper tracking numbers for any of those orders and have it store in the system. It must be a random glitch or something, because it just won't save no matter what (different browsers, computers, etc) Very frustrating that I'm being dinged for this and will lose Top Rated due to it, and particularly frustrating because I did fulfill all my obligations and I am particularly vulnerable as a seller since the buyer could theoretically claim they never received even though all 4 tracking numbers show as being delivered weeks ago.
I've triple and quadruple checked all the tracking numbers are correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is slowly driving me crazy : ( Thank you so much Brian

This has been happening to me via ShipStation since December 15, 2020 It went away for awhile during the first week or so of January, but has now been happening regularly since January 18. It's extremely frustrating.
I send ebay concierge support an email almost every day with a running list of all the labels that are not updating the tracking number. I send them the order #, UserID, and tracking number.
Manually updating afterwards fails, as the ebay system believes the tracking number is already being used; it is, by the order that wasn't updated that I'm trying to update. Very, very, very annoying.

I have seen this problem after entering a tracking what I found is it takes entering it twice for it to enter the tracking number.

Nope. I try multiple times and it never takes. The tracking number has already been accepted by ebay, but doesn't post visibly to the order, so trying to enter it again fails the validation, as ebay thinks it's a duplicate, so it can't be added to the order despite the fact the tracking number belongs to that order.
I believe ebay is trying to get people to abandon third-party postage label options like ShipStation so they all move to ebay's label generation. Not cool and not particularly ethical, but they're a private company and have the right to do this -- I guess.
I suppose they've won. I'll give up on ShipStation for ebay sales once I figure out the logistics and move to their platform for USPS label generation. I'm sure there will be no failures when I do that.

The problem actually goes further than this. Uploading a tracking number often gives problems but it goes further than that:
- Customers can often not see the tracking numbers that were uploaded, my mailbox is full of people asking me for the tracking number while it was uploaded in ebay.
- Hard to indicate items as shipped: sometimes you have to mark items ten or more times as shipped (over a longer period, I know the ebay system is slow in this) before it will actually show as shipped.
- Delivered items appear back in your 'ready to be shipped ' list. For what is this necessary dear Ebay???

This may be due to limitations in eBay's API that Shipstation uses rather than some malicious plan on eBay's end. Do the faulty orders happen to have multiple tracking numbers?
To my knowledge eBay's Fulfillment API isn't capable of adding multiple tracking numbers to a single order (see here).
Can someone from eBay please comment on the plans to allow the API to add multiple tracking numbers to the same order? Better yet, have the ability to link a tracking number to a specific line item.

I get the error, "One or more tracking number(s) in the request already exists either for a different buyer or for a different seller."

This is eBay essentially saying that the tracking number we are trying to send over to them already exists in their database. try to manually add.
this happened on 32 random orders in the last 3 weeks, I can not add the tracking manually in my ebay. it will not save it, I know the tracking number is good, most have been delivered just fine. I checked it on USPS's site, my Tracking uploaded on time and validated score has taken a hit because of this. here is a example from today

Oh wow, I thought I might be the only one having this issue. It's been randomly happening since the middle of last december, up to 20 orders now. Cannot manually upload to the website either, the orders are in some sort of limbo. I've had 2 months of an ongoing support confirm the glitch and also state it's due to reused tracking numbers. But they are certainly valid tracking numbers as the USPS website shows them in transit. I haven't gotten a sense that ebay views this as an issue needing fixing however, any update support gives me from the tech team makes it sound like it's my fault for using these tracking numbers, like I have a choice what the USPS generates?
The very worst part of it all is I've lost Top Rated Seller status due to all the orders claiming I never uploaded a tracking number. I've gotten support to continuously submit claims to the Seller Performance team but no defects have been removed for 2 months now. It's incredibly frustrating when the only point of contact is through the support channel that also confirms they are seeing the same glitch. We are unable to actually stay in contact with the tech team or the performance team who really don't seem to think this is a priority or problem.

I have also had this issue since December and I have been on the phone 5 times with customer support about this. One of them even said she was a seller and could understand my frustration. Every time I mention this they say it will be taken care of in 24-48 hrs. Which never happens... I am really angry about this as it is random orders and I don't notice it usually until a week or two later if it's a slow day. It's totally random and you cannot even add the tracking number for the few that I did catch that were still in transit. I even resorted to messaging a few customers their tracking numbers. I am just really angry that this is affecting my status as I have worked to hard to be downgraded by eBay for not taking care of sellers once again.

The sellers here suffering from this glitch I think need an escalated response to this as it seems the provided support pathways are not solving the problem. The ebay website is not accepting/saving valid (though recycled) USPS tracking numbers to random orders. All support people have tried it as well with the same result. I've heard from the tech team that it is due to the recycled tracking numbers but I'm unsure if they are working on a fix but they are still valid numbers.
I think we all understand glitches happen and can be patient when a fix is in order. However, we are all getting "Tracking never uploaded" defects on our account and no matter how many times I've contacted support and they've sent a claim to the seller performance team, none of them are being removed. I believe it's policy to remove defects when they are resulting from ebay site issues.

Same thing happening to us since Dec 2020. The problem stems from USPS reusing tracking #s. Ebay's system will not allow the same tracking # to be entered again. We've spoken with Concierge support numerous times and have been told to call back if our shipment rate drops below TRS guidelines. Hopefully someone on Ebay's backend is working on this.
