Questionable listings showing up multiple times after sold

I've sold a couple of watches on eBay and have a working knowledge of the sales process, but I'm puzzled by something I've noticed over the last couple of weeks.  I'm hoping someone can explain to me what's going on.

I've seen listings that I recognize as having sold already.  When I check the "sold" list, I can see where the seller lists the watch, sells it, then 3-4 days later it shows up again, listed at a different price, sometimes higher, sometimes lower.

The buyers of these watches are the same, or their ebay handles are not disclosed because it's a private listing.

My gut tells me someone's trying to game the system, but I can't figure out the game.

Any ideas?

One possibility- buyers don't pay and the sale is cancelled. The seller relists.

Yea,  I can see that as a possibility, but the one I've been tracking has been listed, sold, and relisted at least three times.  Price went f. rom 1600 to 1650, to 3250, then back to 2550.

Seems strange to see that kind of price deviation.

Another possibility is money laundering. Numerous discussions mention Corning Ware ceramic or glass baking dishes selling for thousands of dollars.

What type of watches? If these are Timex and selling for this kind of price very probably money laundering operation.

Tudor.  The seller profile and buyer profiles look fishy to me.  Seller is marketing watch as new with tags, but the pictures clearly show personalized engraving on the case back.  It's selling, and was previously listed, with authenticity guaranty, but any authenticator would certainly send the watch back to seller a CND.  (Or would they?).
