Hi all, new semi new seller here, coming up on a year now.
I know I read somewhere when I signed up a year ago that putting contact info in your Ebay listing to try and make sales outside of Ebay was not allowed..
Are some sellers allowed to do it and others not?
I came across a seller who puts his Instagram name in every listing and says for a better deal to contact him on there.. I let Ebay know about it a couple weeks ago but all his listings are still the same.. I mean if it's allowed I would certainly like to be able to do that too.
Just curous if if things have changed and I didn't catch it in an update

You can thank Google and your ISP for that. Because you opened the listings, you were interested in them. If you were interested in them, why then of course you're perfectly fine with being flooded with ads for more of the same.
This is why Google and all their cool features are free -- we pay for it one little bit of data at a time. Unfortunately, scammers have started doing the same -- using sophisticated databases to accumulate bits of data stolen from this or that data breach. "No passwords were compromised" is a joke -- they weren't after the passwords, they wanted the personally identifiable information so they could become you, take out loans or credit cards, and leave the wreckage behind.

There are exceptions to the "no contact info" rule in eBay listings, they are as follows:
"Links and contact information that facilitate a transaction on eBay are permitted in the following categories:
In addition, a seller may include his phone number under the "ask a seller a question" section of the listing. See policy below for more information.
