Hi there,
I have had a recent purchase that was never recieved by buyer and they requested a refund as not revieved. My question is, now that 14 dys have gone by and still not recieved and yes tracking was issued and was just with no updates and a request made to USPS for updates, what happens if now the buyer recieves the item? I have not made a claim with USPS but any experience with this? It is not that very often that the USPS goofs up this bad but just curious any thoughts.
thanks,

It happens. As a seller, you want to take care of your buyer. They say not received and tracking doesn't show delivered. You need to refund. You can ask buyer to just refuse package if gets to them or you can ask them to return. But, it may not happen.

I just had this happen. In fact 28 days later the tracking still says "Late, arriving soon" as it has from the start. I refunded my buyer all costs including shipping and made a USPS claim which I received yesterday in the form of a check. Easy.

Need more information.
Did the buyer file a INR case with ebay?
What are the timelines?

have you checked tracking status on the carrier's website? eBay is not always up to date with carrier information.

You can file a claim with USPS if your package was covered insurance for "loss or damage". Priority Mail Services are covered up to a given amount any coverage over the max covered has to purchase but First Class Package you have to buy insurance coverage
Copy/Past From USPS website-
"Priority Mail Express® Insurance
For detailed information on insurance fees, go to https://www.usps.com/ship/insurance-extra-services.htm."

If you have refunded and later the item is delivered then most of the time the buyer gets a freebie. It happens to all of us. On the rare occasion a buyer may be gracious enough to pay you back via Paypal. And, alas, once it shows delivered then a carrier is unlikely to issue a refund.

Have the customer open an item not received case first. do not refund until the last minute of that case as if for some reason the receive it ebay will refund the money back to you but if no car is opened they will not.
