I purchased a shipping label through eBay, but someone else is using my tracking number, and it’s already showing as in transit now. I’m not sure how this happened when i havent even dropped off the package yet, could someone please help me figure out what to do? Is there any way to resolve this and get a refund?

Are they Priority Mail or Ground Advantage?
I've bought 3 Priority Mail today and they are doing OK, so far.

Watch the tracking in Ebay, it will be correct. Disregard the tracking on USPS. I know that sounds odd.
@kensgiftshop is correct. There appears to be an issue today with the tracking numbers, but you should be OK. Ebay is aware of the issue.

Three out of 6 packages I plan to drop off at the PO this morning are like this. EBay tracking shows USPS awaits item. USPS they were just delivered this a few days ago.

I purchased usps ground advantage, also tried to call ebay but no one is available to answer. I wonder how I can resolve this?

I went ahead and cancelled mine but now the new tracking shows this. I've seen this status before but it usually resolves within an hour. this is taking much longer. USPS must be on to there being a catastrophic situation. Must people do not check the tracking so soon. I only looked at mine because it was mentioned in the community, likely more reports to come....

Tracking now appears as expected but it longer than normal to be acknowledged by USPS.

I have the same issue, purchased a ground advantage shipping label yesterday June 22nd , it shows as delivered June 21st. How were you able to cancel the label that shows tracking was used?
I get this message when trying to cancel.

I did from the link on the buy another label page. It does now say at the top USPS is experiencing problems.

That didn't work for me.... currently on the phone with customer service. Very surprised they have reps working this early.
And yes.....it was a call back. LOL
ETA.... You would think cancelling the label on eBay's end would take seconds...Been on hold off and on for 25 minutes.
Really?? They say go ahead and use the label? Nope tracking shows in the USPS website as delivered. I'll write off the wasted shipping cost as a loss and purchase my labels on Pirateship.

Had this happen to one of my labels last night, tracking showed delivered the day before they bought my item. You have to call into ebay Tech support and they will void the label and refund you back.
In a thread I found from last year said it wouldn't let them void the label because it was already in use, I didn't try, just called ebay. Plus if you do get to request to void, USPS won't refund because the tracking number shows used.
1st time I've ever seen or heard about this, now I have to check every order before I ship to make sure its a good tracking number.

Printed a label (ground advantage) yesterday. It does show an acceptance scan this morning, but it also shows that it is hundreds of miles away in transit 2 days before I printed it. Interesting.
This is ebay tracking info, I have not gone to the USPS site to check, just going to assume it will get where it is supposed to and deal with it not if not.

What happen is the USPS recycled the tracking number, they do it alot but apparently their doing it too soon.
Best to go to "help" on top and put in tech support, they called me back in a minute and done in 5.

Maybe massive cancelations triggered them to put a hold on the process? They must know and be working on it. Just hope it isn't some sort of intentional action.

I just went thru this nightmare myself. I paid for a second label. I was unable to cancel (get refund) from eBay system as it says..."can't be canceled as its been used". I called ebay and explained. they transferred me to tech support and got refund.
