Promote my listing.

Funny, but I thought listing on EBay was promoting my item. I used to go to the club flea market once or twice a year to sell my extra hobby items but eBay provided more buyers. Now, you want me to pay $0.99 to promote an item I list for $0.99. My items were never in the dark before. I never needed to shine a light on them before. Free listing does not mean free listing anymore. I thought your 10% charge was your fee but apparently I was wrong. SAD.

It is optional.  I don't pay any extra fees...eBay gets enough of my money.

Hi, I agree but if they don’t shine a light on it then that means it is in the dark. I have found that if a buyer is not specific enough, they will not find the listing. For example, if a buyer is looking for a 1/3 scale model aircraft kit and the seller does not promote their listing it will not appear. It used to but not anymore.

Find something else to sell. 99 cent items are not good for internet selling. Too much work for a payout of a couple cents even if not on Ebay. No need to promote such things.

Name on aircraft kit you say Ebay hides that you have listed. I will prove to you that you are very wrong.

I am selling a 1/3 scale Balsa USA SOPWITH PUP kit. The only one on the entire eBay site. You would think it would appear when you search for a 1/3 scale Balsa USA kit. You are wrong, it only appears when you specifically search for the kit by it’s full description.

It is. But if a thousand other people are selling the same thing that you are, your chances of a sale drop. So eBay is happy to take more of your money and sell you better exposure.

Of course eBay wants you to voluntarily give them more money. But you can simply say no. There are plenty of sellers doing just fine without promoting their listings.

That does not mean your item is in the dark. It simply means that this specific buyer does not really know what he wants.

Hi, I agree but one of a kind should not need promotion. You are doing an injustice to the buyer. And after all, buyers  ( customers ) is what it’s all about. Seller should not be the focus but buyers are the ones that keep eBay afloat. “NO BUYERS NO BUSINESS “

you thought Ebay fees were still ten percent? That changed with Managed Payments, as you are no longer paying PP fees..best to keep up on these things.

It’s not what you look like but it’s what you are made of. Just consider everyone is blind, now it’s your word.

I agree, one of a kind doesn't need promotion.

If I am selling a sealed copy of Bob Seger's Noah LP, there is no need to promote the item because a buyer searching for "Bob Seger Noah" will find it easily.

And if you are selling a Balsa Sopwith Pup kit, there is no need to promote the item because a buyer searching for "Balsa Sopwith Pup kit" will find it easily.

But if my buyer searches for "LP" he will find 4 million listings, and if your buyer searches for "balsa kit" he will find 3,000 listings. Neither eBay nor sellers can fix buyers who perform hopelessly broad searches. That was true two decades ago and it is true now - and it has nothing to do with promoted listings.

Well, he won't find yours because you did not put "model" or "aircraft" in your title. But again, that has nothing to to do with eBay or promoted listings. It has to do with your choice not to put those important keywords in your title.
