Problem with Searches

I noticed that searches don’t work as they used to . Buyer needs to be very specific in the search. If you’re looking for general search you won’t find it as search narrows you down. For example I typed “le creuset mixing bowl “ (which is general search; i didn’t specify material used). I was displayed only ceramic bowls (buyer looking for stainless bowl would be done searching thinking there is none). Then I typed le creuset stainless bowl and I only got stainless bowls. Same I described couple days ago when I typed pottery barn desk and I was first displayed desk (furniture). When I scrambled words in search , I got desk accessories. I then typed pottery barn lap desk and saw lap desks. So the genaral serach for pottery barn desk didn’t show me desk accessories nor the lap desks.

This may explain the poor  views on your items as they don’t show in searches due to poor search engine. The problem is that many sellers name their products in various ways and that can make it  hard to find their items as general search word wouldn’t feed their item in search. For example as above. As a buyer I need to know exactly what I need and how to word it to get to see it. If I don’t know what I like (maybe ceramic maybe plastic maybe stainless bowl- I should see them all but I don’t) and what the name of it is (When you apeak different languagages then you name items different) then I won’t find your item.
i have done searches using app on 15.5 newest IOS and device ipad pro 12”

Re: Problem with Searches

using   le creuset mixing bowl  as a search term.........I see stainless steel bowls in the search.........   I also see filters off to the left indicating "material" to further define what type of bowl is wanted

Re: Problem with Searches

Most buyers use phones or mobile devices as they easy to use and can be used anywhere.  Searches are wacked up.

Re: Problem with Searches

For example I typed “le creuset mixing bowl “ I was displayed only ceramic bowls

When I type le creuset mixing bowl I see 37 results with 2 stainless bowls in those results.

When I search le creuset stainless bowl I see 18 results.

When I search le creuset stainless mixing bowl I only see 2 results.

It was the word mixing in your first search that was hiding the stainless bowls, because only two of the stainless bowls have the word "mixing" in the title.

So IMHO your premise is completely wrong because being less specific would have helped your search.

Re: Problem with Searches

Unfortunatley ebay won’t allow me to upload screenshots I took for proof. Maybe they fixed it already for this search. Lets report on other.

No thanks. If I spend more time investigating and it works fine for me, you will just say "eBay must have fixed that one too! Now let's try this one".

Re: Problem with Searches

Personally, I liked the old search much better… it was a lot easier to find what you were looking for.  eBay sometimes seems to be trying to make everything more difficult for both Buyers and sellers.
