Hello,
I know this has been asked in one way or another several times, but I haven't been able to find clear directions on how to do it, or if it's permissable.
I have a really good customer who's purchased from me twice within a couple of weeks and has left great feedback. I want to offer him a discount on future purchases. I don't have a store, but I'm thinking there must be some way to accomplish my objective without one.
I've read that I can private message said customer with a discount offer on whatever item he's interested in, but off the top of my head, I don't see a way to do that that keeps everybody happy.
I would appreciate any advice or suggestions on how to do this, and if it's okay by Ebay in my case: a no-store seller. Thanks in advance.

You could always let the customer know that you would be willing to refund a certain percentage of any future purchase. But keep in mind that both Ebay and Paypal will keep their percentage based on the gross so adjust your discount accordingly.

I do not know of an automated way to do this without a store? The only suggestion if you do not want to get a store is to
In my opinion I would not get involved with anything like you are requesting to do? Your buyer seems happy with the items and prices now, so I am not sure why you would change something that is working?

Since you have their e-mail address through the Paypal transaction, you could make up a coupon for their next eBay purchase on your computer and send it to them. They would be the only one that has it, so you can create whatever terms/sales incentives you wish. They wont be able to discount next transaction in the eBay checkout, but you can partially refund whatever amount you had discounted in the coupon after they have paid in full. Be sure to convey this to the buyer so they don't get frustrated checking out next time.

I would be very wary of communicating any offers, prices, or hints of selling through ebay messages, because of the many "horror" stories from sellers who were flagged falsely and erroneously by ebay for attempting to sell off ebay through messages, and those sellers subsequently lost their final value fees or were suspended, all because of false "bot" interpretations of generalized coding.
I would do what some suggested and offer a future discount, stated on their packing slip, or offer free shipping or something else.

You are correct! I just checked on my Paypal transactions, and couldn't find the email addresses. They are on the seller hub Orders page if you click on the number in the "Record" column just above the photo thumbnail

PayPal gives me the email address of EVERY buyer, I don't need it because eBay also gives me the email address of EVERY buyer.
