Do these sellers realize that price gouging is illegal? I mean, $1,000.00 for 1 ounce of USED hand sanitizer while our nation is facing virus that is killing people is not just wrong, it's illegal. Then there is the fact that as fast as eBay is taking them down they are slipping by, by relisting them time & time again. With the above mentioned item being used, it is potentially not safe anyways. I just don't get how these people are going out buying up as much as they can, keeping it out of the hands of those who fall in the at risk groups & then thinking they will get rich while people are at risk of dying! I just find it really sad that some go that low in our nation. I just really want to know why are these items still for sell on eBay & still being allowed to be posted?

(CNN)As the coronavirus pandemic spreads across Europe and the United States, a global scramble for medical equipment such as respirator masks and gloves is underway. Several countries have accused the United States of trying to hijack their orders, but the details of who may have done what to whom are still murky.

You're right of course and its making me just as angry . While e bay has been busy taking down listings for masks because some people are taking full advantage of this crisis there are others making a fortune . We haven't been able to find Lysol spray in the grocery stores . As soon as a new shipment comes in,, it's sold out . So tonight I checked e bay .. Here's some of what I found ,, one regular size can with a starting bid of 38 dollars , 22 to ship ,, one USED can at about the same price and another with a shipping price of 167 dollars . What about THESE price gougers ? Doesn't seem fair to punish only a selected few . Tulips

Every time you find one report it... These dingy sellers outnumber eBay staff, and the staff can't keep up on their own.

So I have a question. I had a listing taken down due to the policy, not sure if they took it down because of pricing or because of the item can't be sold. It's for 8 Fantastik All Purpose Cleaners. I reviewed items sold in the advance search, and find that authorized and best sellser were coming in much higher than what I had listed. So how does this work again? I emailed ebay to get specifics on why per item, the ebay policy is clear but summarized, I need to know exactly what I did wrong to fix it and make the listing comply. I am not gouging I had them priced much lower than ebay sellers and on par with what major chain stores are selling the item for. I am just trying to learn and comply with all polices in particular this one. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
The LAWS on price gouging are typically your price has to be no more than 10% higher than the price of product prior to the State of Emergency.
You should not be determining your pricing on these products by what other sellers are doing because if they are breaking the law, then so are you. Some of those other listings just haven't been found and closed by Ebay.
You are taking a heck of a risk with the health of your selling account in order to sell some of this stuff. You might consider checking inside of your community for places that need these supplies and either donate them or allow them to purchase them at your cost so that you are helping those around you.
I know our local Doctors office / clinic is in desperate need of cleaning supplies. You may find some places local to you that could really use your help.

There's a possibility that some of these sellers are extreme couponing people that have a stock pile of items that they got for a small amount of money or for free. Then they take advantage of people in this time of crisis just so they can make a profit. Price gouging is against the law and they should be held accountable.

That may account for a handful of sellers, but not likely even half of them do that or have done that.

If you have a stockpile of items, donate them to a local shelter or food bank now, they are in desperate need of items NOW. NOW is time to be a good human and not worry about your profit.
