I listed an almost new 2019 Macbook Pro, in like new immaculate condition, plenty of pics, the original box etc. The auction pics show the box with the serial number etc. A potential buyer asked for a copy of the original receipt, so I screen grabed the B&H order page showing the item as delivered. He then asked for the order number from B&H, so I screengrabbed that where it also showed my name. Now he is asking for my phone number. I am uncomfortable with continuing to hadn over information, and become concerned he may be collecting information for some evil purpose. Would this be in line with any online scams where someone would attempt to claim ownership of a listed item using order numbers or such, or perhaps he is trying to 2 factor authenticate into my B&H account to show he bought the laptop? I am just about ready to block the guy from bidding, because he's freaking me out. Paranoid or...?

If I were you I would contact B&H immediately to let them know a false claim was filed. Don't wait for the representative to contact you within 5 days because the scammer may have supplied their own phone number for contact.

OMG! Your eBay ID is your real last name??!! It's kind of hard to survive without a mask in this cyber jungle these days. Don't you think?
What kind of claim are they making? Did you obscure the vital info - name, credit card # - on the receipt copy you sent them?
