Potential buyer asking too. any weird questions?

I listed an almost new 2019 Macbook Pro, in like new immaculate condition, plenty of pics, the original box etc.  The auction pics show the box with the serial number etc.  A potential buyer asked for a copy of the original receipt, so I screen grabed the B&H order page showing the item as delivered.  He then asked for the order number from B&H, so I screengrabbed that where it also showed my name. Now he is asking for my phone number.  I am uncomfortable with continuing to hadn over information, and become concerned he may be collecting information for some evil purpose.   Would this be in line with any online scams where someone would attempt to claim ownership of a listed item using order numbers or such, or perhaps he is trying to 2 factor authenticate into my B&H account to show he bought the laptop?  I am just about ready to block the guy from bidding, because he's freaking me out.  Paranoid or...?

Block from bidding and (if it's not too late) block from the bidder sending messages.

If that ship has sailed... don't read, delete!

Yeah, just added him to block list, he wants me to prove I bought the computer...then more messages, he is now confused if the item is an i9 because I explained I am selling the i7 because I bought an i9...not worth the headache.

Re: Potential buyer asking too. any weird questions?

It would seem like the potential buyer is asking for all of the vital information to pull a scam. perhaps even on the company - WITH YOUR INFORMATION.  Block and end communication before it goes too far, if it hasn't already.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Perhaps if Brains were described as an APP, many people would use them more often.

Re: Potential buyer asking too. any weird questions?

Perhaps you could just say selling because you upgraded and not mention i9 at all to avoid the confusion, or the excuse of confusion later on.  ( wink wink...This one could cause major pain if you are not careful.)

Tech sales are still red hot on eBay, thou other categories are barely breathing.  There are plenty solid buyers out there.  And don't take a chance on low/zero feedback buyers on this one.   Though you might get asked to remove shipping cost because it is used after all.

I sold iMac and laptops to small business like coffee shops and doctors offices and.... that just don't need the latest model and stuff can get scratched or dented easily.

Good luck!

Definitely lose the references to i9. That i9 you bought is not relevant to selling this i7, and text about it may be confusing to buyers who either are not good with the English language or might be reading the description in less-than-perfect translated form. Just talk about the item you're selling, and nothing else.

Well, I guess I was sort of expecting something like this...someone is trying to file some sort of claim on my Macbook with B&H...

Once you answer him and tell him your phone number, the next question he'll ask is "What are you wearing?"

You are being set up to be scammed. NEVER share information that you would not share in the listing. Block and NEVER do it again.

Contact B&H and explain what has happened.
