Sold an item for $60 on May 20th.....needed to ship across the country to California. On May 21st buyer opened a payment dispute. Claiming he didn't recognize the transaction. He then began HAMMERING me with messages wanting to know when the item would ship. Sadly I have been fooled by this before....when I shipped the item and then the buyer won his dispute and had his money refunded AND kept my item. PLUS I was charged $20 for dispute claim by eBay. Suffering through this, there was no way in H@LL I was shipping this item. I contacted eBay ( which it is probably easier to get a private confession with the Pope) and they said not to ship until the dispute is settled. I asked would the overdue shipping effect my rating.....NOOOO they said. Well....the deadline date has came and went....and guess what is still showing OVERDUE to ship and guess what has dropped....my tracking uploaded ontime score.....Anyone relate? Thanks...
Frustrated in Bama......

As you said you lost a similar dispute, and more likely you will lose this one. This charge backs scams have been happening recently a lot on EBay. In such situation I would cancel the order, and refund the Buyer before the package shows overdue for shipping. You did this differently, so if you need the defect from overdue shipping to be removed you should get back with CS.

When they opened the dispute, since you hadn't shipped, I would have canceled the order and refunded.

Cancel order as shipping address issue

I would have responded NEVER, being as how you don't "recognize the transaction", then canceled.

Once he opened the dispute....the cancel option was not allowed....First thing I tried to do. Thank you for your response!

For whatever reason...once the dispute was opened. I wasn't allowed by eBay to cancel .
Thanks for taking time to respond.

Sadly...once the dispute was opened, eBay would not allow a cancellation. Really left me with no options.

There are several kinds of disputes and generally the "transaction not recognized" is one that the seller usually wins. At one point eBay was handling these internally without involving the seller other than to let them know the chargeback had bee opened and eBay was dealing with it. What exactly did the chargeback notice from eBay say? There is a possibility that the CC is stolen and the actual owner filed the chargeback.
As far as shipping I would not ship the item with the chargeback open but I would contact eBay through the FaceBook connection and explain the situation and they may in fact cancel the order for you. It is best to avoid the defect for not shipping on time but that is something else you can ask eBay about.
