Postal holiday July 3, Friday ?

According to the USPS, the official holiday for most federal employees is July 3, Friday.

EBay says I must ship a new order by tomorrow, Friday, July 3.

Anyone know if all post offices are closed and if so why eBay has not adjusted the ship time frame?  Is there a work-around for this?

My PO is open... my mail carrier told me today that he's off on Friday, 7/3, but the sub would be delivering. No delivery on Saturday, 7/4.

Postal holiday July 3, Friday ?

Area post offices here are all displaying a 2020 holiday closing sign showing July 3 (Independence Day Observed) and July 4.

A small, no Postmaster size office,  said they were open tomorrow July 3.

I stopped at  Level 20 office, and confirmed with the employee there that USPS will be operating as usual on July 3. She said that the PM apparently did not get another sign with the correct info.

Did not tell the employee there what I thought about the fact that corrected signs were not sent out automatically, or why a level 20 Post Master could not send someone with a piece of paper, and a strip of tape to the front door to make a correction.

My local post office had the same sign about closing July 3 too so I was confused. Thanks for your replies.

It's most likely some kind of "violation" to physically alter an 'official' sign? (maybe)

It should be considered a "violation" to display a sign that is in error😁, not to mention how poor of a business practice it is, and how bad it makes the Post Office look for displaying erroneous info.  Even eBay has been fooled in this instance🙁  Printing shipping labels with the correct date is reportedly a challenge/not possible.

I spent nearly 3 years running 3 different Post Office, and would not have hesitated to make the correction. At a minimum, a neatly printed correction could be displayed to assist the patrons.

Oh I agree with you, but you know how (some) people within a bureaucracy can be.

It's very confusing. When I do a search for it, all of the ones I found said July 3 is the postal holiday. But it makes no sense that they would be closed July 3 and open July 4. None of the sites found were usps.com though. The usps site search is so bad, I couldn't find it there.

What's your source?

The holidays page at usps.com says that Post Offices will be open on July 3 and closed on July 4. See the screen shot above. I should have provided the link for it, which is

*This year, July 4 (the legal public holiday for Independence Day) falls on a Saturday. Post Offices will be closed and there will be no mail or package deliveries. Postal employees: Either Friday, July 3, or Saturday, July 4, will be treated as a holiday depending on employee duties and regular schedule. Check with your manager or supervisor for information on how this impacts you.

It clearly states on the USPS website that they are closed on Saturday July 4th for the holiday. Also, if you go on usps.com to schedule a mail pickup, you can schedule a pickup for Friday July 3rd, but not Saturday, July 4th.
