Post Office closing

If the Post Office is closed down--at least partially in the fall-- by congress, how will that effect your business?

"I have read opinions that the reason Trump wants to close the Post Office is to prevent voting by mail. "

That makes sense, though he voted by mail, lol. Anyone here watch the diatribe er-press conference yesterday? I guess he's the dictator-in-chief now. Or thinks he is...

"No way would I want mass voting by mail. "

Oregon votes by mail. Out of over 2 million votes there were 54 cases of fraud.

dictator ??  I guess fake news describes him as such but would you rather have a bernie sanders communist or a corrupt biden with dementia ? Trump has done more good for this country in a short period of time that finally puts America first and has done it well with total opposition from the left wing that cares nothing about our constitution or freedom.

The real facts are is that amazon with their private shipping is what is putting stress on the USPS not Trump and he is not a fan of Amazon because of that. People reading this post should do more fact checking instead of jumping to conclusions ! 3 major things this country will not shut down. The military ( unless the left wing gets ahold of it again) The rail roads, and the US Postal system ! All 3 are major veins that help operate this country !

Cypress did...about a month ago. True, they are very small, but they did it. I also got a notice from a magazine I subscribe to that they are no longer accepting renewals through the mail. It all has to be done on-line, including Letters to the Editor. I think this kind of precautionary thinking might be the wave of the future.

Postal service in Cyprus had some disruptions and closures of retail Offices. International mail both inbound and outbound has been seriously affected due a shutdown of air service in and out.

Similar disruptions have occurred in dozens of countries (including the US) but none of them are "closing" as being discussed in this thread.

Really? That's interesting.  I would have imagined more. What about lost/destroyed mail?

I guess I'm just paranoid and keep picturing roving bands of right wing and left wing knothead extremists out on their tricycles stealing ballots out of people's mailboxes.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

This country has way way way more things to worry about than that scenario. Not a dig, it's great that you are caring about election fraud.

It's nearly impossible to guess what life in the US will be like in  November but there certainly are suggestions of a second wave of the virus. Therefore it would be a huge problem with voting in person. I don't care what anyone's politics are. I think we can all agree the 2020 election is extremely important and we need to find ways to avoid voter suppression by any means.

I watch one press conference a day... and it ain't his.  Once he started talking about his Facebook popularity I quit. (really!!! in the middle of a pandemic he wants to talk about popularity contests?!?!?)

Now I just watch Cuomo's and then put on some candy making video's or documentaries about digging stuff up in the UK (time team) put em in the background and go back to cleaning items, getting pics, shipping weights and listing items.

Edited to add:

To be fair... I didn't know Cuomo was a democrat for weeks... and as principle I don't trust Yankees (tongue in cheek)... but at least he spouts facts at me, and what he is doing to try and fix it... nothing more nothing less.

I don't even know if the Gov of TN does em or not... but since it took them forever to shut down the state I don't wanna hear mine either.

I hate photobucket right now... PS Answers given years ago may or may not be current now, please check with current posters to the boards to see if the information is still relevant.

The only thing I do not like about Trumps press conference is all the stupid questions he has to answer from the left wing biased fake news press. I also have heard the democratic gov of NY and the mayor of NYC on some occasions is praise and thank Trump for the help he has sent them which are facts. Thanks God he shut down the travel when he did or things would be much worse than they are and that is a fact. But when he did do that at first all he did was get called names and they said and accused him of being paranoid and racist and was totally over reacting !! Fact are China owes the whole world a bunch for their lies and cover up !!! All facts !!! But then Trump could cure cancer tomorrow somehow and they would still find something wrong with that !!

Hello everyone,

Since this thread has gotten a bit off-topic, please bring the discussion back to the subject of how a potential USPS closure might impact your eBay business.

For political discussion that is not directly relevant to selling on eBay, please visit The Soapbox.

Thanks!

@muskingum_relics...unfortunately...USA has so many kool-aid drinkers and they got plenty supplies from CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, New York Times...the lists can go on...

...the ePackage situation was a trade deal that the previous Administration, Obama, signed with China that their businesses can freely ship their products to the US and our USPS has to deliver without any paid...that's how they can list so cheap and free shipping on eBay...ask your mail carrier about those packages from China with very tiny and blurry print labels with a note "no tracking information", below was a small, short bar codes with another note "delivery scan even is not required"...did anyone notice the conflict?...

Bernie Sanders is barely a social democrat, let alone a communist. None of the current candidates are that left leaning, unless you ask those who think everything left of hunting the homeless for sport is communism. Democrats do care about the constitution and freedom, they just don’t believe in the me, myself and I and everyone else can go pound sand way of interpreting them.

@cropcirclesquare24...USPS is not closing any sooner, later, now, in the future, whatsoever...never...

...this statement has been repeating every so often half or a decade, every time our Nation got some apocalypse, catastrophe...Postal Workers have heard about USPS running out of funds and can't afford to pay salaries in such a this month, next month, this quarter, next quarter, early this year or the end of next year...verse versa...

...and guess what...mail is still placed inside every house mailbox and packages is in front porch...every days, even Sunday...

...as I mentioned before in another topic, the greatest burden on the US Postal Service is the pre-funding of retiree health benefits...over 5 Billions Dollars annually...Congress has the power to change that...!...but they don't want to do it...!...(Congress are both, the Democrats and the Republicans...do not side with one and blame another...no propaganda here...!)

...also, the trade deal with China is needed to eliminate the ePackage from China which is a huge loss profits for USPS, a death sentence to US base business owners (included all the eBay sellers from USA...)
