Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has encountered this kind of scenario - the cost of my item is pretty high, he's offered a good amount and paying for postage to the U.S. Strange part - that he said 'am willing to purchase your item for my lovely Adopted Daughter as a Genius Sparkling Gift, Actually she is currently studying in a Missionary College Overseas., i want the item sent to her Via Auspot etc. Then said send bank details to my email address.

It is a scam.
Don't communicate outside of ebay to texts, emails, or requests for banking information.
Scammer wants to take you off ebay.
This scam, with slight variations, is often reported here on ebay.

You NEVER have to send any details for payment other than tell them to Pay for their item through eBay’s system PERIOD. ANYBODY DOING THIS IS A NASTY SCAMMER.

Yep thanks i figured that was case

pretty similar, i received a great offer on a laptop with a request that i send it to his son in college instead of to the verified address. of course, he offered to pay extra for the inconvenience. i sold it on Facebook as local pickup instead. shipping to any address other than the verified one voids your seller protections from eBay (which are already a bit limited), and leaves you wide open to scam with no recourse.

"lovely Adopted Daughter " "Missionary College Overseas" Block this guy right away.
Usually they say it is for my cousin. Anything off eBay is a scammer at work.

since messages were already exchanged, the buyer will still be able to send you messages, but just delete them

Yea no worries

Then said send bank details to my email address.
Slight variation on the old "text me scammer"...the ones with it is a gift for my (daughter, cousin, grandmother) for their (wedding, birthday, first communion) typically want you to include a prepaid gift card or two later in the game.
They want your email address to send you a fake notification telling you that you have been paid. Auspot is in Australia. Usually, these people want the stuff shipped to THAT famous address in Delaware. Perhaps the scammer is confused and also sends these to Australian users.
Congratulations for not falling for it. Many do, and come here too late.

Based on your quote, it sounds as English is not his/their primary language. European & Far Easterners have a hard time with English verbs & sentence structure. Example: "... for my lovely Adopted Daughter as a Genius Sparkling Gift ..." . My lovely adopted daughter is not a phrase that an American nor anyone from the UK would use. Also, the last sentence should alert you to a possible scam: "I want the item sent to her Via Auspot etc. Then said send bank details to my email address." Ebay & Paypal do not send items to any address other than your registered address. The closest I can come to "Auspot" is Australia. I'm wondering if they meant Australian Post. -------- All-in-all, I'd answer with a strong, "NO." Items have to be sent to the address on file tyhat they registered with. It's up to them to forward that item to a different address. ..... I hope that'll help you a bit.

That whole message is pretty obvious, alerts in almost every sentence.
