Possible Hacking?

Good morning.

So here's what's up;

On the 8th of May (Monday) a purchase was made, I was out with food poisoning on the 9th (Tuesday) and came back yesterday, where I processed the order and purchased a shipping label, and then received an email from PayPal stating that the purchase was claimed to be unauthorized, I have not shipped it yet.

The email address that was given to me in the email from paypal was vastly different from the one that was used to make the purchase, and the item would have been shipped to a logistics company in Delaware, and the name attached to the purchase was a business in Bangladesh.

I'm not jumping to any conclusions but there's a lot of red flags here, for me at least.

Advice?

Re: Possible Hacking?

Interesting. I had originally uploaded the tracking but removed it marking as not shipped after finding out about the dispute, and a few minutes ago the same tracking was oddly added back to it and it was marked as shipped.

Re: Possible Hacking?

Okay so a little update, it was confirmed the account was hacked and the held funds have been returned, so now I need to cancel the order on the eBay side, what option do I select when cancelling?

All it gives me is issue with buyer address, but nothing about issue with buyers payment or anything like that.

Re: Possible Hacking?

The money was refunded through PayPal so when I try to cancel the order on eBay it wants to force a refund.

Re: Possible Hacking?

You'll have to call eBay, explain that Paypal found in your favor and reversed the payment, and ask eBay to cancel the transaction so you can get the FVF back.

This kind of issue has been addressed in the weekly chat -- you need a manual account adjustment.

Re: Possible Hacking?

The eBay shipping clock does not begin until a payment clears. The OP did not receive a cleared payment or approval from Paypal to ship -- therefore, no defect or "late" shipment.

Just proceed with the cancellation. No need to call ebay. As long as the original payment was refunded through paypal, ebay won't process a second refund.

Re: Possible Hacking?

Got a message from eBay this morning, the buyer got NARU'd and they apparently refunded the FVF's, though because it was a variation listing the item was already relisted but it's still making me choose a reason for cancelling, since it was an unauthorized payment I'm assuming the best course is cancel due to buyer request, it still wants me to refund but I'll see what it says when I hit the continue button.

I really wish they would fix it so sold variations don't get relisted with the listing... sigh...

Re: Possible Hacking?

Call eBay and ask for a supervisor so they can override the cancel and complete it for you now !!!

@tonycea you should read the entire thread before you reply. It was never necessary for OP to call and the FVF has already been credited.

I called them once to make sure I wouldn't get any defects for it. Other than that it's simply been a waiting game.
