Politically Correct Item Descriptions

It is time for me to list several Holiday Barbies (we split a pallet with another Seller) and I have 138 Barbies to list.

Mine are all assorted Holiday Barbies, minus 2.  

What do I use in the title for those that previously would have had AA in the title?  (AA used to be a fairly common search)

There appear to be 9 that are of orient reference - but 3 that vary.  So use......??

The (2) Barbies that are not "holiday" appear to be sort of princess-ey dolls, but have a Barbie logo.  Think Geisha-ish.  And I would call her.......??

Appears the drop-down menu will let me "add" whatever I wish to call them for "nationality".  

Thoughts, suggestions?  Just don't use one and make people guess?  Just call them all Barbie and be done with it?

Thoughts are to list them because they are collectible but thoughts are to watch out for the SJW crowd 

Not much you can do about that but just a warning

I use the word ethnic in place of AA and suggest Asian would work for the other 2.

Are they the dolls or the hallmark ornament dolls? I've briefly looked and did see one seller using that AA is his title but mostly the ones I viewed and most hits on is Holiday Barbie being 1st words.

     If I were searching for these, I would put in "holiday" first.

I looked at the Mattel website to see how they're handling the new woke culture. They don't mention anything in their doll titles other than hair color. They don't have search filters to choose based on coloring or body type. You're supposed to use the photos to choose a doll you like instead of search filters. The description of every doll says the product line offers a wide array of skin tones, body types, accessories (like wheelchairs) and hair colors.

I suppose that's the PC way to do it? But that's not going to help you with eBay search. I don't know what the proper answer is, but I'm giving your thread a boost and hope someone else can help.

Did you sift through sold Barbies from the last couple months to see how they were listed and what titles/specifics were used? That's probably a good starting point.

As a full-fledged, card-carrying, paid-up member of the "SJW" crowd, I'd ask whether Mattel identified your Barbies as representing a specific nationality? If so, use that description. If not, leave it blank.

I'm not great figuring out the meanings of acronyms / abbreviations ... but if AA means 'African Americans' ... I wouldn't think there's anything wrong with having that in the Title or description.  I'd also add 'black'.

A black Barbie isn't the same as 'Black Americana' type items ... which mock stereotypical racial traits.

I would think it's also okay to use the word 'Asian' for Barbies that are dressed in a way clearly depicting that part of the globe.

Being 'politically correct' doesn't mean that we must avoid mentioning nationalities and races.  People want to buy Barbies that reflect  themselves ... so I don't see anything wrong in helping them do that.

If there's a recent eBay policy that refutes anything I've said ... I'm not familiar with it and do not mean to contradict it.

I have a variety of jigsaw puzzles I sell with various ethnic themes.

I list them, directly, as to what they are. The titles include the phrases:

Ethnic Japanese

Ethnic Native American

Ethnic African American

Along with some figurines listed as:

Hindu

Japanese Samurai

Buddhist

I have never had a complaint.

I'd certainly use African American Barbie in the title if you have them..........ebay has suggestions for that search when I type it in...........vintage/Ken, etc........

Sure, go ahead and use ethnic slurs in your item descriptions. Tell me how that works out for you.

Whichever words you use to try to describe the dolls -- 

If they were mine, I would use as a main photo a very, very good and flattering and accurate picture of each doll's face, showing the hair style, and then photos of the full doll.  I might add close-ups of the dresses.   In other words, trying to focus on the beauty of the product rather than label any colors or styles.
