Phone number for an agent IN THE UNITED STATES

Ebay customer support is currently useless.  I need to speak to an agent in the UNITED STATES regarding the recent Ebay 1099 requirement / issue and them not letting me enter my IRS issued business tax id number.  I've requested a call back many times and it always comes in from some foreign country.  I am NOT going to give someone in a foreign country my tax information.  So NOW WHAT?

There are some Irish agents doing MP support, but other than that it seems to be all Manila now. They aren't eBay employees, they are an agency that seems to do call center work for a variety of companies.

Over email though, you can be escalated to US employees. But in my experience that is no longer possible on the phone.

I'd happily be wrong about this if anyone can demonstrate how! Would welcome back some domestic support.

Is your eBay account set as a business account or as a personal account? Check to make sure you have set it properly; AFAIK if you have it set as a personal account it might not accept a TIN.

Again, with those chat based platforms, how do you know the rep is IN THE US???  You don't....  So I'm pretty sure they aren't.  So once again, how can I FIND A US REP???

I've had them call me literally TWENTY times....  EVERY call has been from someone offshore and I don't want to give my TAX INFORMATION to someone offshore....

How do you know the twitter or FB reps are in the US?  I'm betting they are the same offshore reps you get on the phone....   Once again, not giving out my TAX INFORMATION on those platforms.... 

It really does appear ebay "management" has elected to essentially abandon their platform, so it looks like I'll do the same
