Just wondering if anybody has any experience that they can relay as to when I can expect a Paypal Unauthorized Transaction chargeback by buyer to be closed in my favor. I sold an item to the buyer in early July 2017 ($50 item). Sent to buyers address from Paypal trasaction page via Ebay labels. Buyer never has contacted me but on 9/17/17 he opens an Unauthorized Transaction chargeback on Paypal. I enter the USPS tracking number showing the item has been delivered to his address (from Paypal transaction page) into the Paypal resolution center. Since 9/28/17 the resolution center says that Paypal is "disputing with financial institution on your behalf".
I have called Paypal many times to try and get it closed. Each time the CS person says that they can see that my tracking number is "good" and that I will "be covered" BUT they still need to fight for me against the buyers financial institution. I say, but your policies say that I am covered from Unauthorized Transactions so why not just close it out in my favor and you can dispute the chargeback for yourself all you want. CS says it doesn't work that way.
My question is, how long will this go on and will I eventually loose this case for some unknown reason? Anybody have any expersince with this type of issue? Thank you in advance.

Customer service is lying to you, they can close the chargeback and release your funds now. The chargeback will remain open for months until PayPal and the buyers card issuer have done whatever they need to do. But you are correct you are covered by Seller protection and it appears PayPal has hired former eBay reps who don't know how to do their job!

When I call Paypal lately, I tell them that I know you can close this case out so please just do it. "It doesn't work that way" is always the response. How do I get them to do something they keep insisting they can't do?

Evening,
We still have a case opened that actually was closed in our favor because we provided appropriate tracking etc.
Typically PP will put your funds on hold until you provide the tracking info.
From there you can ask for a courtesy release of those funds and typically they put that amount back into your account with the condition that if they can not cover you they will debit the funds they advanced you while this is ongoing.
From my understanding it takes 75 days for the process to time out if it actually involves a disputed CC transaction and not just a Paypal source of funds.
