WHEN YOU PROMOTE A LISTING AND YOU SERCH FOR IT IT COMES UP SPONSERED WELL I WENT ON WITH A DIFFERENT COMPUTER DIDN'T SIGN IN WITH MY ACCOUNT AND SERCHED FOR THINGS I SELL AND IT WAS A GENERAL SERCH NOT ANY WORDS IN MY LISTINGS SO I FOUND OUT MOST OF THE THINGS I SELL WERE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST AND NO "SPONSERED" ON THE LISTINGS SO I CALLED AND "VAN" FROM EBAY CHECKED AND AGREED WITH ME SO I AM WONDERING IF THEY REALLY DO PROMOTE YOUR LISTINGS OR IS IT ANOTHER WAY FOR THEM TO MAKE MORE MONEY FROM US SELLERS BECAUSE MY SALES ARE NEXT TO NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT THEY WERE ALSO IS THERE A WAY TO CHECK OR SEE IF A BUYER IS BUYING BECAUSE OF YOU PROMOTING A LISTING WE AS SELLERS AVE TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT IS IN OUR ADDS I FEEL THEY NEED TO BE MORE ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT WE PAY FOR AS SELLERS AND NOT JUST NUMBERS.

I am a small-time Seller. My sales were good for me prior to the

July 12 date to increase the value of promoted listings.  Funny (not

so funny) how eBay is so predictable.  When I did not increase the

value of my promoted listings, my sales went to zero.  That is to say,

went from a good number of sales relative to my activity to zero sales

as of July 12.  My membership from Nov 2002 means nothing to eBay.

Where are the rewards for long-time loyal Sellers?

I refuse to do the promoted listing rip-off..... I do know that my store has been slowed down...So I was forced to check out AMZ...I have a fraction listed on AMZ and that platform is hot..SAD I was a Ebay fan since 2007...For example my Ebay sales for today is a whooping $209.99 vs $2,327.90 AMZ.. YET I have about 1/3 listed on AMZ..Numbers don't add up..So keep throttling me back Ebay...There is other options..Your loss! This promoted listing rip-off will be your down fall!!!!!

You can't promote at 1%.  2% is the minimum.  I can't answer that for you, it totally depends on your category & how much competition you have.  For me, it would not be worth it, but I sell in a very saturated category.  YMMV.

You're right absolutely-- promoting my items has caused me a ghost town even Xmas week.

Behind the page is why. it appears to work when you make edits and new promotion rate choices..but it does NOT. It tacks on OLD promotion dates behind your back, which in turn removes you from searches, sys thinks your ad is as old as the date promoted is sneaking in. It's only visible by manually checking yoursekf, all your sell similar/revised promotions using edit/revise listing and looking carefully . I'm about to ditch promoted all together, it's horrible!(600 items). Tested twice this week, 150, 200 listings, all full of old dates despite end/stop promote/ then, sell similar & create current date promotion. (Bulk edit in sell similar)...

  Only way around it is re create all listings NEW. Weekly. (Only my odd new listings ever sell fast, what a joke to be paying a cut of your item for). Xmas weeks original test was great..templated 50 at a time, ended each 50, create from template.

Three days of typing!!!  Sales quadrupled.!!!!

Hey Monica, would you test this for me? It fails..

End ten random sluggish listings. First, Stop Promoting. 

Now in Ended, grab them Sell similar, and batch edit a promotions...name it today's date campaign and alter the % rate.

It will say done! And look ok at a glance.

But manually edit/revise those ten new listings-- has it out a much older campaign date in like mine are all doing?

I tested 200, then 150 this way. All failed with old promo dates lurking behind my view,and matching old listing dates, dusty i.e. stagnant zero sales. Index puts the new listings back in time courtesy of old promo dates disobeying sellers edits.

And what of the collected promo fees from these A1 picked older promo dates not authorized? Can of worms.
