hey so I opened a case because I wanted to see if my buyer is a scammer. The item has been shipped and it shows the funds pending. I know new users have to wait 21 days for funds to be recieved unless you show tracking info and stuff which i did. With the case i opened it increased the days untill i recieve the funds. I want to know if i close the case will it change the amount of days because i know if i close the case i wont be able to open it again IF the buyer is a scammer.

I will tell you how this could be fixed.
If people started using this method to get addresses to purchase outside of eBay this would be fixed in a minute.
Prov 20:14 It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.

Sadly this sounds like close to SOL. Final value fees might be recovered. What was it you sold?
You have to educate yourself on how to safely sell. There is a lot of reading but the information is on both Ebay and Paypal. If you sell again and have a question, come back to one of the boards for help.

Because in a recent thread trinton said that they may help sellers that fell for this scam. It's worth a shot

I hope the case you are talking about is for an Unpaid Item. If that's the case, you open it, and close it when you are allowed to.. four days later, I believe. But, you aren't going to GET any money from eBay for this. It's only to PREVENT eBay from filing a charge on your account for 10% of the selling price that you will owe them for the sale! You are preventing them from filing those fees onto your account, due them... when you didn't even get paid in the first place.
There is nothing for your to "earn"... all you're able to do is prevent eBay from costing you even more loss of money by making you pay for a sale that didn't close.

Afternoon Pete,
First it is never a good day to hear about someone losing their goods in a transaction that takes advantage of their inocence and lack of knowledge about selling.
I do wonder how you came up with such a strange understanding of how ebay works.
It sounds so strange that I can not even imagine how the events you have discribed unfolded.
It almost sounds like you aren't even selling here...but on some other site.
Can I ask you how you came up with most of your ideas on how ebay works?
Almost sound like you were coached or earlier you mentioned your sister's account...what age group are you folks in if I could ask.

That would be nice . This incident should also go to the security center and maybe they can stop that person from accessing listings and messaging sellers.
Further info Peteshallo-0 Never ever give anybody access to any of your information froom a Ebay message. Really there is virtually never any reason for a buyer to have it unless you are trying to get an order straightened out or such. Even that can usually just be done through Ebay messages.

I guess it doesnt matter what account it is there's always scammers. This time i was super eager to sell and it turned out it was a bad idea
Obviously you don't know how eBay works or you wouldn't be in this fix.

It just makes me sick that your $270+ Nintendo WiiU and games are in the posession of some scamming sum bag who preyed upon you. For this I am truly sorry.
However having said this, it is clear you really do not understand how ebay or Paypal work at all. If your sister told you it was a scam, why would you ship it anyway?
I am trying very hard to be harsh here but I feel like the warning signs were written everywhere around you, even on your forehead as you looked in the mirror and you ignored all of them.

Hi Pete,
Sorry for the delay.
Oh this is not good...you gave your item away I am afraid.
It may be difficult to fully explain the process of selling to you especially now that you have a very confused idea of how it works.
Please take this for what it is worth...many sellers come here after innocently being scammed but in this case I think you said it yourself...your eagerness to sell your item...make some fast cash in other words...has really caused you to set yourself up to be scammed.
No one deserves to be scammed yet from the scammers point of view...you were an easy target and sadly your lack of knowledge in how ebay works and your over zealousness to make some money will have embolden them to do this to someone else.
This is a tough lesson to learn.

1. New users are scammer magnets. You need to be extra cautious.
2. Regarding the "pending payment," I'm wondering whether you got an email appearing to be from ebay about the pending payment or if the buyer merely marked his purchase as "paid," thus showing as pending.
3. If you received an email that appeared to be from ebay or paypal but was really a phishing (fake) one, you probably clicked on links within that email. Change your paypal and ebay passwords.
4. Depending on where you and your buyer live, you might consider a small claims action. Since you have the person's name and address, you could start with a letter (certified) threatening legal action if he doesn't pay for the item. (While he's not obligated and may just ignore you, it doesn't hurt to try.)

Hi @peteshallo-0, I know this has been a stressful situation for you and have escalated the details to the appropriate teams. Sometimes when a payment is made through an eCheck we have seen issues with a notice to ship appearing within the app, when it should notify you that payment is pending. We only expect a seller to ship once payment has cleared to avoid trouble like what you have run into. I'm seeing what additional options we have to resolve this for you since you may have received an incorrect notification on this transaction.
In the future, you can always double check PayPal before shipping. If an eBay error led you to a loss of funds, we will work to get you reimbursed. Keep an eye on your PayPal account within the next week for an adjustment or an email with more details. We shouldn't have a problem getting this resolved for you, but may have to reach out with additional info.

Another 'List it, Ship it, Get paid' problem as I see it.
Such a simple change that might help out a new seller, but obviously beyond ebay's capabilities to change the wording.
"Nothing is obvious to the oblivious"
