As your sales drop off after 1 year, you have to replace them with MORE sales in order to increase the percentage for that metric.  So, list some inexpensive stuff that will sell and you can ship quickly.

Just talked to EBAY customer service and this is just crazy. EBAY said you will automatically get a defect if USPS did not scan your item as RECEIVED or if item does not ARRIVE BY DATE that EBAY promises to customer. I explained that I don't offer GUARANTEED SHIPPING and I shipped item immediately and have no control of USPS and how long they take to deliver items. They refused to remove defect because you only have 30 DAYS to appeal defect.

I always hand deliver to post office and watch them scan. This has only been a recent problem so something has changed. My late shipping rate is 0.34% but my tracking uploaded on time and validated is 93.24% That doesn't even make sense.I don't have time to follow the tracking on every order and rarely do I get a complaint.I shouldn't be responsible  for what happens after I give it to USPS unless of course they lose it(per Ebay)That is the reason I don't ship overseas.

i agree 100% if i drop it off and its scanned in on time same day shipping, then it take a week with the post office to deliver it instead of the 3 days promised... why am I penalized?!  My ship rate is at 2.65% even though 99.9 % of the time i ship same day.  Craziness!  December has already had 3 of my packages shipped to the wrong distribution center or not even leave the DC for 2 days - we are talking flat rate packages priorty mail....arghhh

On time shipping percentage keeps dropping even though orders are shipped on time?

Once I deliver to USPS, I don't look at anything but I recently had a buyer question the tracking. After talking to the post office, I found out that not all packages are scanned at the point of drop off. If the package needs to go to another distribution that tracks/distributes that package depending on size and destination or whatever their criteria is, it may not get scanned until it reaches that distribution center. IF someone at USPS happens to have it go to the wrong distribution center, then it has to wait for a truck to return it back to the original spot and have it resent out.  I kid you not. This is what I was told. And so I tracked 5 packages that I sent out that day.  Two of them did not show up as scanned until days later, each at a different location but not my local location!

There is an option within bulk shipping labels that you can print a scan page.  Take that to your counter and have a post office person scan that one bar code and I believe all packages then show up as scanned.  Haven't tried it because except for this one time, I've never had anyone ever question why a package didn't show as scanned.

I'm just not into eBay for the long haul so % don't mean much to me.  I just want each and every package to be delivered to the buyer with no breaks and have them happy with the quality of what they purchased.

Hope this helps someone else.

On time shipping percentage keeps dropping even though orders are shipped on time?

That was happening to me and what I found out was that the post office I was using for drop off did not scan items there but sent them downtown for scanning. I even handed the clerk an overnight package that they did not scan for 5 days even though I paid for overnight shipping. So, I no longer use the post office for drop off. Instead, I found 2 pharmacies and 1 university post office nearby that accept and scan my items immediately and simply hand me a receipt. There are usually no lines and thus there are no more problems with late shipments.  You might want to look into places other than your local post office that is not doing its job.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you require a signature confirmation on an item and the buyer does not sign within the time frame, even though you sent it on time, you will also get a ding. That is totally annoying and it penalizes one for selling a more expensive item.

Disneyshopper is correct...if you have one defect and your sales for the past year were 300, but over a couple of months your sales for the past year drop to 200 and the one defect is less than a year old, your percentage of defects will go up.  Everything is based on what you did in the past 12 months...

You may want to just double check or bulk edit your listings to make sure handling times are all the same. Sometimes when ebay updates of tries to fix things, they create other issues like this. We have had issues like this in the past.

Have you looked at the details for that percentage?  On your Seller Dashboard, in that area, look to the right.  Click on the down arrow.

Now see the words in blue "Get Full Report".  Click on that and it will generate a report for you so that you can view each listing that has been counted as a late shipment.

A couple times a year I end up with stuff on my report that do not belong there.  I check the tracking on each item, make notes on payment date, ship date, scan date and delivery date.  Then I call Ebay and go over with them whatever is wrong and need to be removed.  Once they agree with what I see, it can take up to a week for them to disappear, but they will, providing you call them and have them correct them in a timely manner.  30 days is best, but you could probably go back as far as 60.

For me, I review my dashboard on a regular basis, so I catch these pretty quickly when they happen.  Then I gather my info and call Ebay to get them removed.
