Offer for Full Listing Amount

Good morning.

I have a video game listed for $1000. Last night I received an offer for the exact amount it is listed for. Buyer has no feedback in the past 12-months. It says the shipment address will be to Dallas TX but the buyer is located in Germany. I am comfortable enough with the global shipping program, etc but I specifically did not select international sales for this item because of the dollar amount. Do we think this sounds scammy? Why wouldn't they have just purchased outright if shipping to Dallas?

Thank you for your help.

Re: Offer for Full Listing Amount

Ignore or decline the offer, as you said they could just as easily hit the BIN.

If I were you I also would not be shipping something of this value off shore, but that is just me.

If you feel comfortable giving it away for free, go ahead with the sale. Hey, what could go wrong?

Re: Offer for Full Listing Amount

An offer without simply using BIN is probably the first step in a scam.

Step 2 would be,    Can we talk by text?

Step 3 would be a fake payment thru "Paypal"

I'd ignore the offer.

Not probably.   Guaranteed the first step in a scam.

Re: Offer for Full Listing Amount

You should not be selling anything for $1,000, especially highly scammed gaming items.  Stick to selling your lower priced items as you appear to be doing well.  But with a mere 52 feedback, well you are just inviting scammers to take you for a ride on that video game.

If you're looking for confirmation of what everyone else has already said, let me add my vote here. The reason for offering what you're already listing as a BuyItNow is to avoid any Immediate Payment Required setting you might have had on the BIN price. Next will be attempts to lure you into texting or emailing them in order to get your off-eBay contact info, followed by fake payment notifications and shipping instructions.

Just sell it as Local Pickup Only for cash. Trying to sell it any other way will not end well.

Re: Offer for Full Listing Amount

If the shipping address was Dallas, TX (freight forwarder), OP wouldn't have been shipping offshore.

Re: Offer for Full Listing Amount

International customers use freight forwarding locations in the USA all the time. Most are legitimate requests. However at that game value, I would just decline the offer & move on.

Best of luck.

Re: Offer for Full Listing Amount

Thank you. Yes, I usually do global shipping for items <$200 but for this one I turned it off.
