Offensive inappropriate feedback

How is it that Ebay is allowing a negative customer from the start, to allow them to continue to be offensive now in their feedback reffering to me as "she" when my name is Jeff and am clearly not a she.  I find this to be highly inappropriate and offensive.

Re: Offensive inappropriate feedback

Not only that but the customer said I was argumentative which I don't know how that was derived from " my sincerest apologies" and a refund. One of the silicone mats had a hairline cut in it that even the customer themselves did not notice until several days after the purchase. I apologized and stated it would have been just as easy to create a listing for three. And that it was an honest mistake on my part. And gave my sincerest apologies.

Re: Offensive inappropriate feedback

How ever you may feel about the feedback left by your buyer it doesn't qualify for removal. There is nothing in that feedback that looks or sounds offensive, being referred to as "she" isn't a qualifier for removal.

Re: Offensive inappropriate feedback

People can't tell if someone is a he or she on line. (While unrelated to your issue, that is why catfishing is so successful.)

Re: Offensive inappropriate feedback

I'd take it with a grain of salt, and just maybe reply to the fb with a comment "I'm a he, dingbat".   Says a lot more about the buyer than you.

women are not inferior, so I wouldn’t consider being called a woman to be an insult. Opinions may vary.

Your idea of a good come back (I mean follow-up) for feeling insulted by being referred to as a "she" is to use a truly insulting word for them?    Yeah, that will give future buyers a good impression of how you handle an issue.

Name calling is never a solution. Not only that it is unprofessional.

Re: Offensive inappropriate feedback

Someone's name is never a sure way to identify someone's gender.

The lines are blurred now more than they ever were.

I'm still puzzled that John Wayne's real name was Marion.

Re: Offensive inappropriate feedback

BUT did you offer the buyer to return it?  Or to replace it free of charge? Or a complete refund? Looks like it was a $20 item

The feedback is based on the buyer's experience

Re: Offensive inappropriate feedback

I doubt the buyer meant any disrespect by using the wrong pronoun.  Buyers barely read the listings, I'm sure most don't pay attention to the seller's name either.  I bet most of us have been called the wrong pronoun in our feedback... I know I have.   Many names these days can be used by both males & females.

I would only care about the feedback comment itself.  If it can't be removed ... and it doesn't appear to be removable, the best thing you can do would be to leave a very calm reply back to the feedback, something like:   I'm very sorry that you weren't pleased with your order.  A refund has been sent.

Something to that effect would make any future buyers see that you are reasonable.  Just don't have any tone or attitude in your reply & most buyers won't give that negative much attention.   After that I wouldn't give it a second thought & I would move on. Just part of doing business...

I think you are vastly overstating the "offensiveness" and "inappropriateness" of that feedback. The fact that the buyer wrote "she" instead of "he" could have been a typo, which buyers cannot edit afterward.

Selling on eBay requires a thick skin, and some are just not cut from that cloth.

Re: Offensive inappropriate feedback

So if my user name were subamy679 and you referred to me as a "he" I should feel that's offensive?

In 1907, the year in which he was born, the name "Marion" was the 106th-most-popular name for boys (and the 63rd most popular name for girls).  It has now dropped off of Social Security's  "Top 1000 names" for both genders.
