Re: Off Topic: Who's watching the eclipse?

This was an utterly surprising, fantastic sight. Came to Idaho from Texas and so happy that we made the effort. Here's a shot during the total eclipse taken with an iPhone!

I didn't see the sun, no glasses, but I did see the weird multiple crescents against a red lawn chair in the yard. The birds sang but it was twilight-ish out. 97% here on the OR coast and CLEAR...we usually have clouds in the morning. I almost wanted to drive south but they had fog. I am glad we stayed. NO traffic.

At that point, they transferred to Kentucky and never went back.  I have a feeling that my friend was disappointed.

It was pretty overwhelming if you were in the right place. If you can find it on the CNN website, check out the 96-second clip of the CNN reporter (I don't know her name) in St. Joseph or Blackwell, Missouri. She's in more-or-less Official TV Reporter mode until totality hits, at which point she pretty much loses it, along with the rest of the crowd. (In a different clip on WGNTV.com, weatherman Tom Skilling in Carbondale, IL, starts crying...)

Great fun.

I love Tom Skilling.  Even though we are across the state, I will watch the noon news on WGN because his weather is the best and usually accurate for our area.  I'll see if I can find it.

We will be pretty much in the path of totality the next one, so I can wait.

Evidently the most googled phrase after the event was spots in my eyes.

Mine is working, but it is not working well.

It shows on August 22nd an item is on its way to its destination as well as it will be delivered today.

Highly unlikely, so everyone confirm delivery dates.

Re: Off Topic: Who's watching the eclipse?

Tom Skilling is the best, and he's been at WGN for infinity + infinity, as the 5-year-olds would declare.

Just got back from the family clips (youngun talk again) trip; husband and I left a day early because we have to play in a golf tournament tomorrow.  I think I said we were in Georgia; actually we were in Anderson, SC, on the lake about 10 miles by boat from Georgia.

Traffic to Charlotte this morning on I85 was horrendous and CLT (Charlotte airport) was a Sunday-after-Thanksgiving-zoo for check-in and security.  We were told it was mostly eclipsers returning home.

We took the boys on the plane with us at the beginning of the adventure - we detoured in Asheville, NC for the first few days - but tomorrow their parents get to bring them home in the long car ride.  Oh tee hee.

I missed the "diamond ring" viewing yesterday; it lasts only an instant as the eclipse begins to end.  When I saw a photo of it this morning, I realized it's darn awesome.

Heard somewhere that Bonnie Tyler's 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' got played a zillion times yesterday.  Fine with me; it's one of my favorite songs.

turn around, bright eyes ...

Hint:  Don't look up the video on youtube; it's soooooo 80's, lol.
