Oct 17th Chat, Creating more than 1 label for a shipment

I sold two items to the same buyer this past week. Each item had its own shipping amount (calculated shipping, no free shipping). I do not have a "business policy" for combined shipping. Because the items were fairly large and fragile, I would have preferred to ship as two packages.

However, ebay (or PayPal) combined the two items as one package, and so in eBay label Printing, I was only given the choice of printing one label. (I think the total shipping price was simply the total of the two separate calculated shipping amounts).

I ended up combining everything into one large package (I see it was delivered today, hopefully intact) I did this because I could see no way to print two separate shipping labels for two packages.

Is there a way to do that, and I just couldn't figure it out?

Also, how did these two items get combined in the first place? I can understand PayPal providing only one bill for the two items, more convenient than paying two bills, but that should not have combined them for shipping purposes, only payment purposes, right?

Hi @my-cottage-books-and-antiques, this is working as intended. There is not an option to split a transaction into two separate packages within the eBay label printing flow.

brian@ebay  You can generate more than one shipping label for an order on eBay.  The limit is 5 for a single order.  I know this because someone bought enough items that I needed more than 5 shipping boxes (by the time she was done ordering I had 20 boxes on at total of 3 orders).

To generate multiple labels you go though the normal label flow and then instead of selecting "Ship my next Item" select "Print another label for this order".  Alternately you can to Orders, Shipping labels, find the order and select "Print another label" from the drop-down on the right.  Neither flow is obvious and you have to watch to make sure you aren't reprinting the same label, but it can be done.

The "Print another label" link is also at the top of every completed listing.

IIRC that one just reprints the previous label, unless it changed.  I know there's one with that text that does that and then you can't drop one of the packages off because the label is a dupe!  BTDT.

Thanks! I knew there had to be a way, just couldn't find it...as you point out, it isn't exactly highlighted by ebay....

I checked it.  It brings up a fresh label preparation page where you'd have to purchase postage before printing, including the orange warning at the top about 'You've already purchased pontage for this item." So it's the same as clicking on the  other links for "Print another label."

Cool, either they fixed it, or the link I'm remembering is somewhere else.

There was also a post about the sale link on store pages.

@dhbookds, I haven't seen a Sale link on stores since the changes took place. I am currently viewing a store that does have items on sale and I'm not seeing a link on the store homepage. If you can provide screenshots then it would help me get this reported.

Brian, the link isn't on the store home pages, it's within the store listing frame. Click on a store listing to see the link. It directs you to all items instead of sale items.

Thanks @coffeebean832!  The new store format doesn't currently support a "Items on Sale" feature which is why the link in the listing frame isn't working. The listing frame was designed during the old store format days and I'm guessing the 'Items On Sale' link was overlooked in the transition to the new store format. I'll bring this up with the teams involved. Thanks again!

brian@ebay, since there is no support for the sale feature eBay could change the link to show all offers, which also includes sales. Replace the text username with a seller's ID. https://www.ebay.com/sme/USERNAME/offers.html

At least it would be better than an unsupported link. Tagging @dhbookds since this was your chat question.
