Not being able to list new items after years on ebay

I have been listing items on Ebay for years now and have 1028 positive feedbacks and no negatives. I sell used items to compensate my disability income. I have been very happy to have this income from Ebay until a few months ago when Ebay decided to drop Paypal  as a Payment option and required me to open a bank account to be able to be paid. They stopped my ability to list anything more until I met their requirements. I am disabled and live in a rural area of my state This is not an easy task. I have tried to jump their hoops but to no avail.

Phone contact is almost pretty much the next biggest hurdle I have faced. I read I have until March [?]  or May  [?] to meet their requirements but they will not let me list anything, anyways. This is a complete nightmare. Is there any solutions out there for people that have issues that they cannot solve without climbing a mountain [which is almost impossible? Please help me!

Basically, you have to register for the new payment service and comply with the requirements or you won't be able to sell on this site anymore.  In a way, it is better that you can't list until this is completed, otherwise they could let you sell and hold your money hostage until you do complete the registration.

For some the process is easy, for others it seems to be an aggravating chore.  And yes, managed payments customer service is difficult to obtain.

There is not going to be a way around signing up for managed payments if you want to continue to sell on eBay. If you have an existing bank "checking" account, that will work.  If you don't, you should be able to call your bank and open a checking account over the phone.

Many large, well known banks have accounts that you can open online.  They don't even need you to have a branch or location in your area.  Wells Fargo, Chase, Bank of America are names you might try.

I'm not sure otherwise why it would be a nightmare.  Open an account, use it to register for online payments.

You do not need to speak with anyone  Just follow the steps on the online banking pages.

Perhaps if you explained "what hoops" and "what mountains" and why you think you need to speak on the phone to sign up we could help you further.

Welcome back to ebay.  You've answered your own question. You wont be allowed to list until you meet their new requirements.

You want a "waiver" from the new rules because you're disabled and live in a rural area?  I don't think that's going to happen.

You already know what needs to be done.  My advice to you would be to go do it.

Good luck and stay safe!

in case you'd like info on ebay's payment system called Managed Payments, here are 2 links to read>

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/payouts-work-managed-payments-sellers?id=4814&st=12&p...

There are lots of complaints about it, but I've been in it since July 2020 and am very happy with it. It was easy for me to register, no issues.

I've read that if you register the checking account from a well known bank, it is easier, but I don't know if that is true. My bank is a major well known bank.

You can contact eBay via social media with a private message:

AND-OR

https://Twitter.com/askebay

AND-OR

click on the 'help & contact’ button located at the top and bottom of ebay pages to receive a call back.

depending on how busy they are will depend on length of time for your call back.

First off, you do not have to open a new bank account to get paid.you can use an existing one.

That aside ...

If you Google "online checking account" you will find hundreds of bank that offer a quick and easy way to open an online checking account. Virtually every major bank offers this, and most say that it takes a few minutes to accomplish.

I just googled "online checking account"  and one of the first results was Capital One offering a free online checking account that pays interest and has no minimum balance requirements or monthly fees.

So I guess am skeptical that this is a "complete nightmare" or a "mountain that is impossible to climb".

I have tried to jump their hoops but to no avail.

Yes or no question: Have you even tried to open an online bank account?

People have posted here proclaiming that eBay will die for various reasons for the past 20 years now. And when they do, it is generally offered as a statement with no supporting evidence other than a biased agenda.

eBay began requiring sellers into Managed Payments last year, and the last statistic I read months ago was that 20% of all eBay's transactions were being done via Managed Payments.

For all of 2020 merchandise volume was up 17%, revenue was up 19%, and active buyers grew 7%. The corresponding numbers in Q4 were even better than the full year numbers - indicating an upward tick, not a slow death.

If you rely on eBay income then you answered your own questions, time to sign up for managed payments.

Many great replies here on how to open a new checking account online without even leaving the house.

There are no waivers or workarounds, sign up for managed payments or stop selling.

I do hope you continue your eBay journey
