I recently sold 3 items because I needed the money to buy something else.
I have a “payment must be received within 24 hours” notice on my auctions.
out of my 3 items sold I’m still waiting for payment 3 days later on one and over 24 hours later for the other. I have contacted both buyers and received no reply. I don’t mind waiting a day or two to be paid usually if there is communication but not being paid and no communication is infuriating to me, especially when I need the money.
why does EBay allow this? It seems I have no option but to sit and wait?
I’m tempted to just relist the items. Why won’t EBay allow sellers to leave negative feedback for deadbeat buyers? At least this say sellers would have a head’s up.
I keep checking my email to see if I’ve been contacted or paid and nothing and it really is making me angry at this point.
I’m not a person who runs a store, I just use EBay to sell things I don’t need occasionally and I’m really getting I sick of not being able to do anything about dedbeats.

Probably. Buyers have lives after all.

I wonder if that would work on all my bills?
Probably not, unless those companies bill through eBay and agreed to eBay's terms of service.
I really should be more lenient because hey, buyers may just not have time to pay for the things they buy.
I never said you had to be "more lenient". I simply said that when you use eBay you need to work within eBay's system. And the eBay system says you must wait two days to file an unpaid item dispute, and then 4 more days to close it if the buyer does not pay.
I’ll remember the “buyers have a life”next time I have a bill!
It would be foolish to assume that the people you owe money to have the same policies that eBay does.
thanks for the intelligent reply!
Lashing out at me because you don't like eBay policy is a wasted emotion.

Dude, no offense but you have 20 feedback.
I’ve got over 10 times that in 15 years and have zero negative. Ive bought and sold hundreds of items....no negative feedback.
so what is your point exactly? You’re hinting at “acting professional” tell me what that has to do with anything I’ve said? Especially since I’m not a professional?
I honestly don’t even know what you’re talking about at this point.
let me know how Lucky’a advice works out for you, just remember the buyer has a life next time you sell something and don’t get paid and can’t get a response.

I didn't use it as an "excuse". I simply gave a possible explanation of eBay's reason for giving buyers two days to pay before the seller can file a UID.
But that aside ....
I have offered the OP two options to deal with his buiyers who have not paid for three days: (a) switch to fixed price listings, or (b) file a UID after two days.
On the other hand, you offered him the advice of voiding the transactions - which could add defects and push him into Below Standard status and trigger a substantial penaty fee.

Is this your only account? All of your seller feedback is from over a year ago.
Regardless, the personal attacks are silly. I don't want to argue. You have made it clear you have it all figured out.

Who suggested cancelling? You are responding to the OP. Prior to this, nobody used the word 'cancel' in any iteration beyond you on this thread.

Yeah it’s my only account....what part of “I rarely sell things on EBay anymore, mostly just extra musical gear I have lying around to finance buying other musical gear” didn’t you understand?
and tell me what I don’t have figured out. Apparently it’s that I shouldn’t be angry about buyers not responding, not paying and EBay not having any way for sellers to do anything about it that doesn’t take a week.
You’re talking about “personal attacks” when Lucky’s post was completely snarky and condescending, not “professional at all”. He’s obviously a very angry and busy guy (16.9 THOUSAND posts on this forum?).
So tell me what I’ve done that’s not “professional”?
You’re sitting here with 20 feedback lecturing me? And the funnier part is you went back and
removed all your “helpful” clicks. Spiteful much? But don’t get angry or take things personally, right?

As I mentioned I regret responding to your post. You clearly know a lot more about selling than I do. Sorry.

2 days before you can FILE. 4 days before you can CLOSE.
5 day auction. So after 11 days I still don’t have a cent, have to relist and what happens to the buyer who
didn’t pay?
Oh yeah, that’s right...absolutely nothing.
But hey, buyers have lives right? Way too busy to respond to an email or actually pay for what they bought. I shouldn’t let it bother me that I have to sit and wait and hope that they pay....after all....they have lives.
12-12-2020 11:42 PM
I clearly have much more experience than you do that’s for sure. And zero negative feedback in 15 years as a
buyer or seller (EBay used to let buyers get negative feedback).
when I buy something I pay for it.
you removing your “helpful” clicks is what hurts the most though. Really shows how “professional” you are and how you don’t take things personally. Not spiteful at all.

Thanks for teaching me about ebay's old feedback system. I appreciate it Never heard of that! Best of luck with this 😀

Thanks for all the helpful upvotes until you took them away out of spite!
Next time you sell something don't sweat whether you get paid or not. Remember: buyers have lives and it's not "professional" to be bothered by not getting paid or Ebay's doing absolutely nothing to punish non-payers.
The seller is out time and money....what's the buyer out exactly? Oh no, if they get two non-payment cases..... IF seller's set their settings to exclude non-payers with 2 cases from bidding, they get excluded from a few auctions. I'm sure that really bothers buyers who don't pay.

I haven't been in your position for over a decade because all my listings are IPR. Learned this lesson a long time ago.

This is a strange thread. Looks like only one of the usual "Cheerleading Squad" has chimed in. I was thinking the other day (rare experience) that I might consider creating a site that records visitors' nominations for the eBay Squad. Wonder who would get the most votes?

All 20 of your listings?
