I recently sold 3 items because I needed the money to buy something else.
I have a “payment must be received within 24 hours” notice on my auctions.
out of my 3 items sold I’m still waiting for payment 3 days later on one and over 24 hours later for the other. I have contacted both buyers and received no reply. I don’t mind waiting a day or two to be paid usually if there is communication but not being paid and no communication is infuriating to me, especially when I need the money.
why does EBay allow this? It seems I have no option but to sit and wait?
I’m tempted to just relist the items. Why won’t EBay allow sellers to leave negative feedback for deadbeat buyers? At least this say sellers would have a head’s up.
I keep checking my email to see if I’ve been contacted or paid and nothing and it really is making me angry at this point.
I’m not a person who runs a store, I just use EBay to sell things I don’t need occasionally and I’m really getting I sick of not being able to do anything about dedbeats.

I kind of doubt the buyers care.
I set messages. No replies. Ebay sent messages. No replies.
Just a lot of wasted time. UID only affect them if sellers actually go their settings and set them to exclude buyers with UID.
It's a joke.

All buyers aren't the same. Some will respond and some won't. The UID process is much shorter than it use to be. It may not be what you want it to be, but it is better than it was. We use to not even be able to open them for a week, now is it 48 hours after purchase. Then the old rule was we had to wait another week before we could close it for non payment if payment had not arrived, now is it 96 hours after you open the UID you can close it for non payment if the payment doesn't arrive.
So while you may feel it has room for improvement, it is the current rule and what we all as sellers have to deal with at this time. I personally don't think Ebay will shorten the process any more than this. But it never hurts to ask.

Ebay should have an autopay system. If you win the auction it should automatically pay the seller from your account. There's no reason not to have that in this day and age of linked bank accounts, paypal etc.
But that would require Ebay caring about all sellers as opposed to just buyers and large BIN sellers.
They do, it is called IPR [immediate payment required], however that is only on FP listings. It can't work on auctions because they can't require buyers to pay immediately when they bid otherwise if there were multiple bidders, you would get multiple payments on the same item or Ebay would be having to issue refunds when another bidders bids. On very active auctions that would be a hot mess. Which is why on auctions IPR won't work.
If you want IPR, it is simple. Run FP listings.

THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM, EVEN AN EPIDEMIC SINCE EBAY STARTED. THEY DO NOTHING ABOUT. THEY SAY AFTER THREE STRIKES THE PERSON IS REMOVED BUT IT'S BALONEY. I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE WITH 10 NEGATIVE POSITIVES WHICH IS THE ONLY WAY TO LET PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT DEAD BEAT BUYERS. I HAVE THREE RIGHT NOW. ONE PERSON TOOK A RARE CHRISTMAS PIECE OUT OF CIRCULATION FOR TWO WEEKS BY BIDDING & THAN NOT PAYING. I ALSO HAVE ONE PERSON BIDDING ON & WINNING SEVERAL ITEMS AND SO FAR NOT PAYING. MOST LIKELY DOING IT BECAUSE THEY THINK IT'S ENTERTAINING. AND WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO LOSE .. NOTHING .. WHY, BECAUSE ONCE AGAIN EBAY LACKS ALL COMMON SENSE AND IS JUST RUN HORRIBLY.
IF SOMEONE DOESN'T PAY WITHOUT VERY GOOD REASON THEY SHOULD BE KICKED OFF FOR A WEEK .. IF THEY DON'T PAY TWICE, A MONTH .. AND THREE TIMES FOREVER. I KNOW PEOPLE WILL SAY OH THEY CAN JUST SIGN UP UNDER A DIFFERENT NAME. BUT IF IT WAS COORDINATED WITH A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER & A BANK ACCT AT LEAST IT WOULD BE MUCH HARDER TO GET BACK ON. MOST PEOPLE WOULD NOT BOTHER , AND THIS PROBLEM WOULD END. .. BUT ONCE AGAIN DON'T EXPECT EBAY TO DO ANYTHING RIGHT .. THEY ARE TOO BUSY WITH COMMENT MODERATOR TEAMS & USELESS NONSENSE LIKE THAT TO REALLY HELP SELLERS.

THIS REPLY IS NOTHING BUT COP OUT GARBAGE WHICH FAVORS THE DEAD BEATS ... EBAY SHOULD AT LEAST ALLOW NEGATIVE FEEDBACK ON NON PAYING BIDDERS .. IF A PERSON HAD TO SIGN UP USING COORDINATION WITH A SOCIAL, SECURITY # AND A BANK ACCT, THIS PROBLEM WOULD CEASE TO EXIST WITH THE REAL THREAT OF BEING THROWN OFF FOR NOT PAYING. . AND IT IS AN AUCTION SITE FIRST, THAT'S HOW IT WAS FOUNDED. MANY PEOPLE PREFER TO AT LEAST TRY AN AUCTION ...

It can also be on auctions WITH a Buyitnow price added although the IPR condition only applies to whoever hits the Buyitnow button. It does not apply to the winner of the auction if thats how it ends.

Who is saying payments should be made every bid?
It should be AUTO if you win. You win....you pay automatically.
I don't even get how you got "pay with every bid" from what I was saying.
And you really don't seem to get.....I'm done with Ebay. I've only said that about 1,000 times now.

At the point of an auction ending, the winning bidder is set. The actual payment is a completely separate transaction. Even if a buyer were to set up an automated payment method on Ebay, that doesn't mean that it would be funded. Meaning they could attach a CC that is closed at some point after the buyer attached it to their Ebay account, or maybe they never updated it as the valid through date changes, or if they use a bank account it could have since been closed or no longer has enough funds to cover the purchase, and so on. Many reasons why a payment method may no longer be viable.
So then you are back to a winning bidder and no payment. I know you want it to seem like a simple thing to resolve when it isn't. It is more complex which is exactly why Ebay has never done it.
I have no issues with you being "done with Ebay". That is your decision and not one I'm trying to get you to change. You won't find any of my posting asking you to reconsider. Just addressing certain things you have said, nothing more. Don't read things into my post that don't exist as you'd likely be wrong as you are on this particular matter. I don't care if you stay or go. That is your decision to make. It simply doesn't matter to me.

@roscothunder wrote:Exactly, buyer feedback means nothing since you can't leave negative feedback. What's the point of even having buyer "feedback"?
I honestly am baffled at all these people defending this behavior and Ebay's response to it. They act like getting angry over not being paid and not being able to do anything about it is being unreasonable.
When I buy something on Ebay I pay for it instantly or as soon as I can. I never wait over a few hours. It's common decency which seems to be in short supply these days.
I mean, I'm just venting here. Like I said I'm done with Ebay. Just not worth the hassle. I have one customer that I shipped something to and I want to make sure he gets it and everything is cool after that I'm deleting this account. Too many other options these days to go through this.
Does that mean if you leave a bid on an auction that ends at 2 am, you set your alarm for 2:15 am so you can see if you won and pay for it then and there? I doubt it ......
And if I'm away on the weekend elsewhere, and win an auction during that time, it won't be paid for until I'm back, safe on my home network.

You're right on that - the problem would cease to exist because no bidder/buyer would ever do that.

If they did that(which they never will), who would bid on multiple listings from the same seller that would combine shipping? Would you prefer to give the buyer a partial refund(which you don't get your fees back from)?
And I ONLY do auctions here. I can count the number of UIDs I've had to file in 20 years on 3 fingers. And closed without payment on 1 finger.
But then again, I don't 'require' payment in a day. And I only file a UID after 7-10 days.
95% of online auctions on other platforms also do not force immediate payment. I get an invoice, and if another auction is coming up the next weekend, I may not pay that invoice until the 2nd auction is over so that I can get everything shipped at once. No one has a problem with that, as I am well established at the major auction houses. Depending on the amount, if I can save 3-5% by sending a check, I will do that sometimes. Never had a problem.

Businesses typically don't allow for the public shaming of their customers. That would be a very bad business model to try. And would likely make your business a bit short lived as it would affect good customers too not wanting to do business with a business that does such a thing.
Most of the sellers that would like to see neg FB for buyers to come back are likely not to consider themselves as running a little business. But that simply isn't correct since there are ONLY business transaction on Ebay and ZERO personal transaction.
To enact neg FB on buyers would hurt the entire site and every one of it's sellers. It is just plain BAD business.

mam - why are you replying to me on the neg feedback for buyers? I bolded the part about buyers having to give their SS #, bank account, whatever to ebay when they register. That was what my comment was about - for the poster who wanted that. The also wanted neg feedback for buyers reinstated, which I believe is a bad idea also.
