No response in technical so trying here. Help?

20 years folks. Im surprised I have a hair left in my head or a spoon that hasnt been used to gouge out my own eyeballs.

Very simple. Just wanted to downgrade my store subscription from premium to basic as im no longer listing even 200 listings instead of the 1000 the premium store gets free. Well all options to downgrade, upgrade, cancel or otherwise were grayed out due to an error on the page saying "Invalid payment method". Well my credit card is in perfect standing and has been since Ive owned it. I called my bank to confirm. The first customer service agent suggested for me to reenter my same card and I got the good ole "Double check your card number" error." The second customer service agent pulled my time tested ebay favorite answer by manually removing my card and then telling me to reenter it now..........to which I got the exact same error. When she immediately seemed confused she decided to try the "well i will personally call you back in 24 hours to make sure we get it fixed, the system just needs time." Its a good thing I knew this well trained lie upfront for holding my breath would have been catastrophic. Of course she never called. Imagine my surprise.....yawn.....next. So 30 hours later I tried a 3rd time. This young lady helped tremendously by saying she called her technical team and they would.........................suspenseful pause.........................call me back in 24 hours. Now 3 days later the 4th rep just told me my card was declined as far back as 3 days ago.................even though Im using to make purchases daily at the store etc and even though my bank says my accounts are all in perfect standing and working order. Still on hold while he "tries something else". Betting countless dollars here that they will offer to call me back tomorrow.

Im on my last leg here folks. I went from just wanting to lower my store subscription to now I have no payment source instead of the one that was working just fine. Im sure ebay will not care that it was their fault when they attempt to collect my fees and sub with no payment source. I do not keep money in paypal already because I have lost trust in ebay.

Anyone have a work around for this or a fix to this several year old "glitch"?

Well, I am out of ideas. Let us know if you ever find out the reason or the work around. It's a new one here.

Sadly, it's Friday.  ^^^

I can't technically explain it (because I don't know those big words) but when someone way overseas canceled your card, that someone hit a button that said "bad card" instead of "delete card."  No one in those CS departments has the ability to restore your good card.

If you don't want to do what lucky said and link to paypal or use your other card, just for an interim basis, then the only other suggestion I have is open another business-only bank account and link that.  At least you'll be able to access your stuff here.  Now, how long that takes to get operational I have no idea.  Hopefully, eventually, someone higher up the food chain at this tech site can get your business card up and running again.

I've been here for a long time, too, and I am gone at the first whiff of getting thrown into the Adyen managed payments.  I don't trust ebay one single tiny cent to handle my actual cash money.   Hopefully I get some kind of advance warning so I can drain my paypal account down to fees paymet needed only ahead of time.

I was reading a movie review today for Apollo 11 (yes, I saw it happen live 50 years ago) and this line really struck me:  "Ordering a pair of socks online today involves more computing muscle than NASA had in 1969."

Can you imagine putting ebay's programmers, even with incredibly more advanced technology, in charge of a manned space flight?  Let alone a moon walk.

Sherry

what if Im unable to remove paypal or there is some penalty for doing so?

There is no penalty and it works every time.

I will wont be able to list any more items with no payment source on file once I remove paypal.

You can't list anything now, either 🙂

Re: No response in technical so trying here. Help?

Thanks for answer one lucky. Answer 2 is my point exactly. I already cant list which is the bigger problem in paying for a premium store or any store for that matter. Not being able to list was a direct result of a CS agent who has no business being a CS agent. So why would I bother taking the time to link my paypal if the end result of removing paypal leaves me exactly where I am now? I do not intend to be an ebay member long enough to lose money paying for a store at all if I am no longer able to list anything either way.

Re: No response in technical so trying here. Help?

Sherry Ebay has overcharged me at least a couple dozen times over 20 years. I remember one time specifically selling a $3500 piece of jewelry and being charged 12% on the entire sell way back when max fees were $200 or less. It took more than 15 reps over 3 months to get them to remove the over charge. I had my credit card company to back me and reverse those overages if needed. Could you imagine these "nasa" like CS agents trying to help you fix overages after they just deducted them strait out of your account?

It would not leave you exactly where you are now.

It would allow you to reduce or cancel your store.

That way your account wold not get billed for a subscription level that you do not want while you are working out your credit card issue.

Re: No response in technical so trying here. Help?

Thanks you. Yes that was the proper path. On that next page when deciding what change to make all links were grayed out and not usable due to "invalid payment method" error. Which is what started the whole problem.

Re: No response in technical so trying here. Help?

The first thing I did was call my bank to check my account status. Another card is not due for 1.5 years and my account I was told in in perfect working status. I have since used this credit card 11 more times with 8 different entities with zero issue. This is an ebay thing.

Re: No response in technical so trying here. Help?

I will be canceling my account entirely if this does not get resolved today. Just as I promised earlier in this post. So no reason to risk linking paypal for 3 seconds to do what will be done shortly with no resolution.

I get ya though.

Just incredible  that a "software company" cannot fix this.

Re: No response in technical so trying here. Help?

Its not a software company that I am getting in customer service. Its an over seas , lowest paid bidder call center. They speak very good english to which im greatly appreciative. Most of them really do sound like they want to help and I would expect by their disappointment that there is a harsh penalty for not having a quality outcome on my calls. They just do not have any idea what the heck they are doing. And we have zero access to anyone who does.

I thought I had something really good going here when Trinton@ebay said he was going to help. He has left me hanging since wednesday just like the customer service rep I just got off the phone with 5 minutes ago.............a supervisor.............who said 72 hours someone from billing should contact me.

Its not even comical. Its just flat out sad. Ebay asks us sellers to do anything and everything to make each and every buyer and each and every transaction as good as it can be. I tell at least 8 CS reps, 2 supervisors, and anyone here on the boards that im canceling a 20 year perfect account/relationship without some help. And we get avoided, lied to, stood up, and left our own devices. Ebay expects the only way to keep a buyer happy is to exceed expectations but ebay itself has no idea what that even means when its their turn. Im so disappointed and jilted that its literally causing me physical issues due to the stress.

At this point I would rather them tell me to go diddle myself and leave than to leave me waiting and wondering.

My point was that eBay *claims* to be a software company. I guess the sarcasm turned into a sar-chasm.

Re: No response in technical so trying here. Help?

Not your fault. My humor is just fading.

I talked to my bank again. They suggested to talk to their technical credit card geek department. Those guys gave me a great idea..........just call paypal. Maybe paypal knows about this issue since they are peas in pods with ebay. So I went on paypal, saw the same credit card number that I had on file there since 2000 was the same one on ebay since 2000. And the one on paypal showed expired. I thought HEY that must be it right? But wait no..............because the one on ebay was the one that expired next year lol so its already been updated a few years ago to the current expiration.

I then called paypal and guess who I got? Rosie from the phillipines. That is my 3rd Rosie from the phillipines. 2 with ebay and 1 with paypal. Rosie from the phillipines cut me off and interrupted me 4 times saying "this isnt ebay." I said you havent heard my question yet. To which she says "no matter what your question it is better for me if you call ebay."

Put a fork in me.
