Did you mean:

No pickup code

Here is the situation: I listed a project car on ebay. It sold and the buyer traveled 6 hours to come and collect it.

He said that he did not have a pickup code and he paid cash. Sending him away did not seem like an option.  Ebay is now asking me for for a tracking number. I contacted the buyer and he says that he still does not have the six digit code. I would welcome any advice as to how to proceed. Thank you.

Re: No pickup code

I had a similar situation. No code, buyer paid cash, and left feedback when he got home.

I marked the transaction as picked up, and that seemed to be good enough for eBay. I wouldn't worry about it if you have the cash, and the buyer seemed unlikely to cause a problem.

My transaction was under $100, and I sort of knew the buyer. I assume your transaction was a much higher price, so it's understandable that you're concerned. Maybe someone else will have better insight.

Re: No pickup code

If they paid cash there is absolutely no way for them to get the cash back from you so you don't need the code.

Most vehicle listings carry a fixed fee when listed and that is all, there is no final value fee only a 2.8% processing fee if payment is made via eBay.

Re: No pickup code

I'm not worried about the cash. My concern was getting dinged for not uploading tracking. In fact since the buyer paid cash I don't know how ebay would know that he has paid.

Re: No pickup code

You would mark the order as Picked Up.

eBay isn't looking for tracking because the sale was Local Pickup Only.

The purpose of the code is to provide proof that the buyer received/picked up the items which prevents a Not Received claim. The code replaces the tracking.

I imagine the buyer cannot provide you with the code because eBay would not give them one unless they had paid through eBay.

Re: No pickup code

Thank you for the replies. I couldn't find the 'picked up" option.  I went to orders and cancelled the sale. This seemed to do the trick: I have the cash, the buyer has the car & title and ebay has the listing fee. I hope this works.

Thanks again. Bernie

Re: No pickup code

Now the order status cant be changed to picked up without the seller entering the pickup code.  Its not possible to do what you did, anymore.
