I have noticed 2 new recommended item specifics to fill in when making a listing, unit quantity and unit type. Can anyone explain what this means?

Would depend on the item: possibly Unit type: cup & Saucer, Unit quantity 2. Unit type: box of 3, Unit quantity 2 boxes.......

I suspect unit type could be a measurement, like inches, yards, meters, or gallons, liters, or pounds. Then obviously the quantity would be the amount of inches, yards, meters, etc.

I will add my two cents worth that this new item specific appearing as recommended is nonsensical, irrelevant rubbish for the great majority of listings. I sell mostly used home entertainment electronics. When my listing title uses singular nouns, the photos are obviously multiple views of the same one item, or include the remote and cable set for the one item, and the listing clearly shows one as the quantity offered, any rational buyer I want to be dealing with is going to understand that the listing is for 1 unit as shown. Also, the unit choices of inches, lb, etc are not relevant to the unit quantity, though they may be mentioned elsewhere as applicable to the "unit's" dimensions and weight. Like so many initiatives from ebay, this new imposition of nonsense received no cogent planning in its application to irrelevant item categories. My view of the "Recommended" item specific is "not recommended". In fact, I think I'll type in some unit types as "irrelevant".
