I have bought and old in the Native American / Ethnographic / Antique categories for many years. When eBay chose to change their way of paying a seller, I chose not to allow eBay access to my checking account - duh. But, when I monitor the categories I used to buy in, there has been a huge decline in the number of items for sale. It used to take me looking at 3-4 pages to keep current on items for sale within the next 24 hours. Now, it takes about 1/4 page to see what is for sale. By the time I get to the end of the first page, the sale date is 8-10 days out. Sellers simply aren't selling any more. I wonder if this is happening in every category? I wonder if eBay has a clue how many people have stopped selling because they don't want their finances compromised by eBay? Is the revenue they get that PayPal used to get offsetting the commissions sellers aren't paying?
It sure would be nice to go back to the old way.

You do realize that you can still use PayPal to buy here, right? And I'm sure some sellers have left because of Managed Payments, but I suspect that recent changes in categories, due to eBay's never ending quest to muck things up I mean improve things, may have more to do with it.

I wouldn't say its ebay slowing things down for sellers. People are leaving because they don't want their payments managed. They asked the same information when I signed up for PayPal selling on ebay lol.
The only thing that changed for buyers was more ways to pay. So idek why sellers are going on strike

It's probably both. Many people are afraid of MP even though not only did they give their same info to PayPal, there was a period where eBay owned PayPal, so it's six of one and half a dozen of the other.
EBay's latest changes have been a disaster for sales and there's not much point to listing things if no one is buying.

I guess I'll never understand the reluctance to open another checking account to use just for ebay. I mean this is 2021, it takes minutes to do so....

Why it may be true that info given was the same, the "Terms & Conditions" are not. Many never took the time to read eBay's 3rd party processor's "Terms". BTW the "may be true" is stated since we never had to give our SS# when signing up for PayPal.

In general yes, but there are many who have finances set up that require changes to legal paperwork. Everyone has had some sort of issue caused by Covid including tax accountants and lawyers. Your few minutes might not be the same as someone else.

I suppose that is true. But it's not like ebay dumped this in everybody's lap all of a sudden. People have now had nearly 3 1/2 years to prepare for this change... most were just ignorant about it thinking the day would never come and now are frantic.
Personally I find it sad that so many are threatening to leave and getting so uptight about it. To me it seems like no big deal.
I've actually yet to really see anyone complain about MP who is actually using MP.

As posted have you considered opening a checking account just for eBay payments?
This can be easily done online and many banks & credit unions have free checking now..
ETA: I hate to see you abandon listing, it's sad to see unique items no being listed.. That's what makes eBay great..

That's why it's so maddening ebay had to force feed us managed payments instead of just letting us use paypal, to squeeze those extra pennies out of us. It's still probably their primary payment method by far.

PayPal is and has been the gold standard for secure online transactions for like two decades. Ebay's Holly Hobby "managed payments" feels like a gamble with your privacy, and also just kind of feels... icky. And the fact that it's being forced on people and the disingenuous reason that "iTs s0 mUcH eAsIeR aNd beTTeR" adds insult to injury.
Worst of all, if you decide to give in and give all of your most sensitive personal information for the managed payments, they might not even work. I've been waiting 9/10 days for a "micro deposit" to show up and nothing.

Yeah it is really sad, but ebay is going to lose a massive amount of sellers over this nonsense. I hope it will be worth it for them.

The problem isn't the information - most of it is already out there. I don't want ebay having access to my banking by asking for the routing number and account number. Paypal never did that

Sure they did............if you wanted it deposited to your checking account as many did. The bank info is the same that is on any check you write and give to whoever........ If you do/did online payments, they asked for a voided check to get the numbers or ask for the same the banking #.............
